Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
Hey guys ive been flashing a few times here my 6900 with BuildOS cooked roms, im very thankful for al the support, the money paid is definetly the best value ive gotten.
Anyways im wondering where the VZW 6900 users are. Im not really a VZW Fan boy... i dont like them that much but i have their service. Are their any new roms made specifically for the Verizon model? Does the Verizon model have any physical differences between the Sprint model phones? Ive heard their slightly smaller so installing the white plastics from the VZW/Alltel model onto the Sprint model is made harder and is not just a straight swap. Which kinda sucks for me as i have a Sprint 6900 i swapped my 6700's esn onto to get working on the VZW network, i wanted to buy one of the many dummy phones cheaply available and swap the plastics onto my Sprint model. Oh well. But this is also why i want a truly VZW specific rom so, i would feel more officially on the Verizon network and maybe it would help my phone a little in running on the VZW network. |
Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
I am using Old_Man_Jenkins OMJ.3.03.04.Generic.Custom with my VZW 6900 and all is well. Until VZW ships a 5.1 ROM upgrade you will still some dialogs with 'Sprint' in the message; like when installing a new Java app.
Hope this helps. |

Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
I upgraded using the update HTC released for Sprint on Monday. I then flashed the rom with Ghettoryderslatest rom , which is pretty awesome. I had to call and 're-authorize' the phone, which took about a minute. So far I have had no issues, everything is running extremely smoothly, and I'm able to get a GPS lock in less than 20 seconds. *The first gps lock was not that quick, but since that first one it has been extremely speedy.

Equis, I have VZW as well and while i was afraid of flashing to begin with i did it anyway. I am currently running OMJs custom updated 7-23 as well and my GPS works very well. I just reflashed the new Sprint rom (( AND MADE SURE NOT TO LET IT CUSTOMIZE!!!!)) and then flashed OMJ's. The Pros of this Rom are the GPS works well and the rom is clean for the most part. Meaning i do not have a bunch of apps that i never use. The Cons are i dont like the menu he uses, but he does provide a way to enable the regular start menu with reg edit i believe. Here is the link to his rom! Hope this all helps!:headbang: |
Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
DHarvey has a Black Vista ROM that has a version specifically for Verizon. I've been using his ROM's (and doing a little beta testing for VZW specifics) for a while. It's fast, loaded, and a lot of fun.
You can find it at ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/dharv...izon%202.0.rar The discussion thread is at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=31081. I tried a few others - even did a little cooking of my own, but he's got some drivers that you can't get anywhere else. Give it a try! Good Luck :) |
Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
Does anyone have any experience with getting a Sprint 6900 running on Verizon?

You could also gain some learning experience and build your own roms. It's extremely easy! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32861

As far as VZW specific...I don't believe there is any real difference. The only thing I'm aware of that causes problems is letting the sprint customizations run. But other than that, any clean rom will run just fine on VZW, although some config might be needed for things like MMS. |
Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
I just flashed over to Dharveys verizon release this morning, and it's EXTREMELY nice. Fast but full featured. The only thing I'm not 100% happy with right now is Total Commander, I may swap it for the one that Ghettofreeryder uses. Other than that it's amazing! I get GPS locks on 4-5 sattelites in less than 10 seconds when outside, and like 20 seconds when I'm inside. It's by far the best ROM I've used so far.

Re: Verizon 6900 roms and uniquely useful programs
Looking for a little help:
Ok so I read through just about every post concerning flashing my 6900. Sadly it was after I began the process....my fault. Here is where I am at and looking for support. Phone calls work, text, mms, gps and the OS are all are stable. I am not able to connect to the EVDO network. 1X is connecting fine. I called and generated an A-key and was able to type it into the EPST menu. What I am looking for are the actual data settings for the EPST menu. Unless you guys know that there is no hope for accessing the EVDO network. I started with the Sprint rom . I did let customs run half way then reset. Had roaming and data issues. Eventually flashed back the unlocker and lower sprint rom. Then reflashed using the proper steps to the current roms. Everything else works but I thing I screwed my radio. EVDO is trying to access Vision services (Sprint Data) instead of Verizon. Is this a settings issue, or did I screw my radio forever? I don't mind using 1x. I just hope that the Verizon ROM comes out very soon. |
