New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
Does anyone know where I could find software to make the Htc touch have some of the features of the new Samsung Instinct.
The features i would really like to have are small vibrations each time any button is pressed on the touch screen. Also I would like to be able to scroll by holding the camera button and tilting the phone. It seem the scroll is controlled by motion picked up from the camera. |

go here for vibration. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30748

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
the camera panning feature is exclusive to the instinct i think. and the haptic feedback is available at the post above this

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
i have had some issues with the vibration program from post #2 on the touch. after uninstallation, everytime i hit a button on the dialpad, it sounds all weird, had to hard reset just to fix it. just a heads up, make sure you have a back up!!!!

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
even if the camera panning feature is only on the instinct, there is no extra hardware so there should be a way to get the touch to do it.

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
The Camera scrolling would be amazing hopefully someone figures it out.

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
I have messed around with some of the camera motion detecting games and they seem pretty accurate as long as there is enough light. It seems like it could be built off that kind of idea.

Does instinct have accelerometer? That's the motion sensing feature ur talkin about i think. it's a hardware and touch does not have that.

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
Im not sure if it has one but from what the first post says i assumed its camera motion sensing

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
supposedly, the camera tilt motion feature will be available in windows mobile 7. It works on the Touch in the game LAWN DARTS (the 6.1 update is needed).
Theoretically, someone could use the same code that is used in Lawn darts to make a FLtouchFLO type program but using the camera. |
Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
does anybody know how to extract the little thumb bubble your press to scroll thru the contats by letter? that looks waaaay better than random access, alot easier to use too

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
Instinct does NOT have an accelerometer

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
is this lawn darts you speak of a free game and if so where can i get it?

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
i would think that if you were to do this just for scrolling purposes it would not really be worthwhile, cool yes, but no more than that. as, if the camera is running in the background (for purposes of sensing motion) then would that not take up some valuable system resources, and if you are running ie or whatever other programs, that would slow the device down quite abit. any opinions ? and couldnt this feature be taken right off the instinct and ported to the touch ?

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
so it might be a little late to post this.... but the instinct does NOT have an accelerometer, the tilt function uses the camera to sense the motion. not the most accurate motion either (i used to have one). it just seems that the accelerometer on the tp would be much more accurate for scrolling/panning and much less power intensive.

Re: New Instinct Features for Htc Touch
Maybe he just meant using the camera button to scroll down? Which is available in the buttons sub-menu. Haven't ever used an Instinct, but why in the freaking world would you ever want to use the actual camera to scroll? That seems like an INCREDIBLY gimmicky thing that would have no real use. Instead of pushing a button AND moving your phone, why not just hit the down key or swipe with your finger? Nothing against the original poster at all, but that sounds like samsung tried to "acceler-BS" its way into looking cool.
