Official Sprint ROM Update Bricked My Touch
 

After updating the phone, the update utility on desktop said "congratulations. Your phone has been successfully updated. You phone is ready to use." The phone rebooted then. But it can't boot into the main menu. After the Sprint logo, it dies there.

After that, I couldn't update the ROM directly. There is not USB connection. I had to press camera + power + reset to initiate the connection and then start the update process. But still there is no luck.

I called the HTC support just now. A guy told me that the update isn't official and asked me to contact Sprint for the original ROM to flash it back.

To be honest, I don't quite believe him. I think he just gave me the run around.

pull your battery out for about 30sec then put it back in let it boot up the first bootup always takes a while and can you tell me what it says on the fist screen that pops up little numbers at the bottom

Try a hard reset (hold the Green Button (Talk) and the Red Button (End), then put your stylus in the reset hole on the bottom of the phone)

the rom loaded up you have the radio and everything did you try pulling out the battery for a few seconds and putting it back in cause unless your getting a nr radio or stuck in tri color screen there nothing else that i could think of but pull the battery or hard reset like post #4 said or just simply flash it again something probably went wrong

I have re-flashed with the latest HTC ROM update several times.

I also tried to flash back to the original stock Sprint ROM. But the phone reboots at 1% and the update connection is lost.

I'm also having problems with this update on my new (never unlocked or flashed before) Sprint Touch. The first attempt seemed to work, with both phone & PC reaching 100% and showing the "congratulations" screen.

On phone boot, I see M 03, B 01, no radio, D 1.12. Bootloader shows VOGU100 MFG, SPL-2.01.1000, CPLD-3 and hangs. This is all identical to the original display, except for "no radio."

The Touch does boot, and Device info shows:

• ROM version: 1.12.651.1
• ROM date: 09/18/07
• Radio version:
• Protocol version:
• Hardware version: 0001
• PRL version:
• PRI version:
• Browser version: MSIE 6.0
• ESN:
• Current username: <correct name here>

The phone WORKS with both voice & data!

Trying to flash the original 1.12.651 ROM gives Error [328]: Invalid Command. Note that this package has 2.13, which doesn't match my 2.01.

Re-flashing with the official GPS ROM will either:

1. Cycle the bootloader screen a few times, show "congrats" on the PC, leave the phone hanging in bootloader and give no other change.
2. OR show progress to 1%, then immediately indicate a successful update and make no other change.

I've tried numerous hard & soft resets without success.

Finally, I tried using VOGUIMG.NBH on the included storage card, but the phone never seems to load it. This is with both the 1.12.651 & GPS ROMs. I don't have an adapter to use this card directly with my PC, so I copied the ROMs using ActiveSync's explore window.

The unbricking posts don't really match my situation, and I'm afraid to fool around too much more. What's my next step?

I ran the update and it worked just fine. Yes, I too got the no USB connection message and the active sync icon showed no connection but you can ignore that and continue on with the update. Simply ignored it and had everything done in 10 minutes. Thank all of you for all you do here. I know it is time consuming and code can be hell. You guys rock!

GPS locks are incredibly fast with this new ROM. Live Search updated version is awesome and I downloaded Amaze GPS(Free-just uses data) and it locks in about 3-5 secs. Very happy Sprint Vogue owner now :headbang:
