Skype Mobile + WM 6.1 - any luck?
 

I've updated to the official Sprint WM 6.1 rom, but can't get skype mobile 2.2 to work. The skype screen appears, but then it stops loading...

Any ideas?

I've gotten skype 2.2.0.18 to work on wm6.1, but not on os builds above 19209.

you can get skype 2.2.0.18 at http://smarthacks.com/2007/06/26/wor...trinity-p3600/ os build 19209 is the vogue os build that I was still able to run skype on.

I've flashed the new rom and have build 19208.
Will that work?

IM+ for Skype is so much better than Skype mobile, in my opinion. But it's not free :(

in what way is it better and how does it compare to Fring?
I'm mostly interested in Skype calls though...

IM+ for Skype is that really a VOIP because I tried to see if it work and it do but it do not work like the Skype original program or Fring when I make a call it calls my phone back because I set my cell number as the call back number??? I really do not understand the poin of IM+ for Skype if it uses your number to call you back that to me is defeating the pupose I might as well call using my regular cell phone someone please explain to me how this works before I purchase this program.

i don't know why it needs the callback number, but i make skype-to-skype calls just fine... i can imagine it's the same with skype-out calls

Why can't this problem with Skype and Windows Mobile 6.1 be resolved...who should we contact Skype or Windows Mobile.

I've been reading the Skype.com forum and Skype apparently is well aware of the problem but has not released a version that works with wm6.1. I guess all we can do is look to alternatives. I've managed to screw up the build 19209 kitchen on my computer and can't replicate how I had it working, especially since I've flashed to the 20226 build on my vogue.

Skype is not officially supported on WM 6.0, so it seems the folks at Skype are certainly not making Skype Mobile a priority.

I have tried Fring and Nimbuzz and neither worked very well for me. I will check out IM+ today.

I downloaded IM+ For Skype 2.0.

It does actually work for voice calls. However, the way it works defeats the purpose of using it on a mobile phone.

If I make a skype call (skype-out or skype-to-skype), it will dial the person just fine. Then it puts them on hold, and makes a conference call to your cellphones number. So basically you are using your cellphone minutes to call a skype contact.

So far I have tried IM+, Fring (no sound), and Nimbuzz (I can hear sound on my cell, but the other party cannot hear me).

No joy in getting Skype calls to work on my Vogue.

Update to IM+....it not only uses your cell minutes but if you make a skype-out call, it also uses your skype minutes. Double-ding FTL

Good news and bad news. Skype officially released a 6.1 compatible update on their website. The bad news it doesn't work with the touch. ie no sound either way.

Owell back to the drawing board...
