best custom roms ?
i have a sprint htc touch pda and i just installed the new official sprint 6.1 rom. i have been searching the forums here and i see soo many different ones. i really wanted to get my phone to look like the iphone but the current themes out there take up to many system resources. i found a rom online and id love to get my touch to look like this.... also i keep hearing about unlocking the phone ? what are the advantages of doing that ? and would you recommend it ? more imporatntly can you guys point me in the right direction to the rom in the photo i attached or can you recommend any other good ones ? i assume if i do go with another custom rom i will loose the new sprint 6.1 rom ? is that a wise choice ? sorry for all the questions but i new at this. http://i315.photobucket.com/albums/l...Untitled-1.jpg |

Each person that cooks roms has their on lil tweak into it. It basically comes down to personal preference.
Learn how to flash and start trying out the roms that interest you. Good luck! Rick |

that is also a gsm phone.. but .. yea you can install that on any phone if you find the right parts.. i think that is htc home customizer .. never really wanted iphone icons.

I would say that if you really want to get the best custom ROM.... build your own. If you do it that way, it is truly personal to you.
With the PPCKitchen really easy to use, the rest of the issue would be to learn how to tweak. Between here, XDA, and Google you have all the resources you need! BTW, if you love PPCKitchen.... donate! I know that team put in a lot of time to make it great :) |

yah, in terms of customization, thats really nothing at all. All you need to do is find the iphone icons and use HTC Customizer to replace stock icons with them, and then just install the today plugins they have there. The bottom one definitley looks like Resco.
As far as unlocking...if you are going to install a custom ROM (or use the kitchen), its not only recommended, its required. IF you try to install a custom ROM with the stock bootloader...you will either fail or brick your phone. (Not sure as I've never actually tried it LOL HOWEVER, by doing so, you technically void your warrantly. |

Hmmm... Ok.... Keep in mind it takes about 30 minutes to Flash (install) a new rom...

thanks guys, i will look into unlocking the phone and flashing a custom rom today. yeah that vista rom looks very nice. its not so much i wanted a total iphone look, but the photo i posted looked pretty sweet to me.

Attached is an app that will let you remap your soft keys without messing with the registry. Just unzip and copy the exe to your storage card or device. run it and it will let you switch your softkeys around in a couple seconds. Also attached is a cab for the HTC Action Screen. Hope this gets you on your way. And by the way - NexVision's Throttle Manilla ROM and SBR_L3gion's Touch Project ROM are both awesome.

how do i get DHARVEY'S Black Vista ROM GPS? i had it on my old phonebut had to have it replacedand now i cant find it anywhere. i really love this ROM. my carrier is verizon. i greatly appreciate anyone that can help. thx in advance.
