prl question

Next year i will be going to college in a town that has rev a with verizon and sprint but not alltel. Thankfully alltel has agreements with both networks for full data and voice (correct me if im wrong). My question is has anyone ever flashed a prl from another network on their phone to make the phone latch on to one network or the other? and if so what prl should i use, is verizon better than sprint, with the nation wide roaming from alltel which verizon per should i use (I or II) and so on or is this the worst thing that i could ever do and have alltel crapping bricks out if the catch me doing this?

Thanks in advance

Re: prl question

Verizon purchased Alltel... Should be finalized before the end of this year (Oct, Nov) according to Verizon.

the fcc still hasn't approved the merge for that i thought, note under my name ;)

edit: if its anything like the midwest to alltel, i will still be using the alltel prl but with more towers on it.

Check this webpage. http://www.the-answerman.com/sidlist/prl/index.asp He has an ongoing list of prls for Alltel. Included in these are prl's for data cards which enable EVDO on the smartphones on other networks. I travel a lot and I use the newest prl for the data cards and get Sprint's rev A in some areas that were 1x before updating to the data card prl. I haven't had any issues with Alltel because it is one of their prls. He has instructions on the page it install it. Hope this helps.

haha i find it funny that the 3x prls are the "current phone" they really are the current smartphone prl and the 4x is blackbarry and wireless cards... but any who i do have the latest, dose it let me roam on verizons data network?

Side note does anyone live in the cedar falls/waterloo, ia area... i would like to change my sid when i get to college there, Go Panthers!!!

Re: prl question

Yes it does, I just mentioned Sprint because the Sprint has better reception compared to Verizon in the same spots. I don't know on the speed but you should get EVDO speeds.

It's a good chance you will get Rev A speeds then.

Correct but apparently there's no doubt that it's going to happen.
