removing opera from 6.1 rom on sprint touch
 

Hey guys I updated my sprint touch with the 6.1 rom and it works good. Only 2 issues so far with mine hoping you can help with. First this rom comes with opera 8.65 which i do not use. Is there any way to uninstall this from the phone? I got a sprint picture mail message from somebody and it automatically opened in Opera as opposed to PIE and Opera is not set as my default browser. Id rather free up some space and uninstall if possible. Secondly, I noticed that when i go to my programs folder by hitting start menu than programs that when the program folder opens and I scroll through the programs installed that the scrolling is choppy, However when go to the programs folder via the launcher from the today screen and scroll in the programs folder that it scrolls smooth and normal. Anybody can help? Thanks so much

install opera 9.5 build 1126 over that opera it worked for me.....

i installed the latest uninstallable opera, then uninstalled it.
im pretty sure it cleaned the oem opera out as well as any trace of the latest opera.

Actually that doesn't uninstall it, Opera 8.65 is a composed mainly of a 4MB exe file called OperaWM.exe in the windows directory; Opera 9.5 is called OperaL.exe also in the Windows directory.
I have installed Opera 9.5 on my phone and I can also use the 8.65 version as well (which is good for me because both help in differently, some sites don't work properly in Opera 9.5 but do in 8.65).

Installing then uninstalling Opera 9.5 may reset the default browser to PIE, but it wont uninstall the 8.65, so its worth a try and then just delete the OperaWM.exe file in Windows, AFTER you've verified that PIE is default.

I have seen someone post a regedit that allows you to change the default browser, either here or in XDA forums.

Awesome guys, thanks for the tip it did the trick. Is anybody else experiencing the laggy scrolling while in programs folder when going into that folder by hitting start menu then programs? What's weird is its happening to me however when i access the programs folder via the launcher on the home page plug in it scrolls normally.
