sprint 6.1 rom upgrade error 260, please help
 

ive seen a few threads but they don't deal with my specific error. my phone is connected via active sync with no problems. the phone screen turns to a rainbow color and it disconnects from active sync. then after a minute i get a error 260 code from the update installer that says the install cannot continue and to check my usb cables. ive tried this 5 times with no luck. i basically have to do a soft reset to get the phone back to normal.

is anyone else having this problem ? i really need some help here guys, id like to install this update.

and yes i have a sprint htc touch in case you wondered. any help would be so appreciated !!! ](*,)

I found this which may work for you:
1) Connect to ActiveSync.
2) Start the ROM install program (note: phone screen will switch to a color band and active sync will shut off).
3) LEAVE THE PHONE ALONE and DO NOT UNPLUG
4) On your computer, restart ActiveSync from the program menu (it will not register as connected...that is ok)
5) Continue with ROM install, hitting next when appropriate.

would this error happen if i took out my micro sd card ? what does it mean by open port ?

It's referring to the USB port. So a couple of other questions... I assume you're running WinXP?

Are you running any kind of security software that may interfere with this? Also, are you logged in as Administrator?

ps. Won't be affected by taking out the SD card.

no im running vista x64. i disabled my antivirus / firewall. like i said the active sync works fine until i start the update. ive tried this 6 times with the same error. ive restarted my device and pc. could it be a x64 thing ?

well i give up for today. i got other things to do, i have a feeling this is due to me having vista x64. ](*,)

Not sure... There are some threads here on PPCgeeks about Vista and RUU updates which may help.

If it were me I would have given up for now and backup your SD card and use that method to install the update.

I think this rom is crappy S2U2 wont work .... Flashvideo bundle wont work (for me)
