Help Removing Application

I installed "Alfonso ThrottleLauncher" and my touch became very slow. I then attempted to remove it via Settings/System/Remove Programs. Everytime I try to remove it I get " Alfonso ThrottleLauncher was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs? " I tryed doing a soft reset and that didnt help. I also tryed removing it through MemMaid and that didn't work. Can anyone please help me get this thing off my Touch, it's running like crap. ](*,)

the only way would be to hard reset your phone

but if you download htc back up it will save all your contacts and other personal info for you into your sd card then after hard reset install it again and it will send every thing back so that you dont loose all your info

Do you still have the .cab file for the program? If so, I could examine it and tell you what you need to remove manually to completely remove it from your device

ok so, I was under the assumption that it was making my touch slow because evertime I would open windows from file explorer it would take nearly 10 minutes to open and the ppc wouldnt run until it was opened. Now the problem i'm having is that i finally got the app removed ( I reinstalled it, then the uninstall worked ), but the windows opening proccess is still giving me trouble. Any idea why this is happening. It only happens when trying to open windows.

Re: Help Removing Application

Well, that explains it... The Windows folder is MASSIVE! Not just that, it contains a CRAP LOAD of files. It normally takes MUCH LONGER than other folders. It should only take up to 7 seconds though...

I'll see if I can find a regedit or something somewhere.

Dang... I can't find it! I remember it worked on the Apache, but its not on my list of reg edits.

It can heavily depend on how many files are cooked into your ROM as well.

Also, what file explorer are you using? I'm not sure if it will help much, but use something like Resco and it may speed up the loading time of the folders.

Sorry I wasn't much help

It's actually worse than before. I'm using the stock file explorer and when i open any folder, it opens right away, but when I attempt to open windows it doesn't do anything at all now. Last night while my phone was on the charger I attempted to opened it, I walked away from it and went back to it over an hour later and still wasn't open. Everthing else on my touch works fine, but i don't know.

Re: Help Removing Application

Something's definitely out of the ordinary.

I'd recommend reflashing to a non-stock ROM and going from there.

Alright. I'm not as good with ppc's as you guys are and am very nervous doing so, but i guess i can try....which one do you recommend?

Re: Help Removing Application

also, do you lose anything stored when flashing to a new rom?

[sammich] 06-24-2008 03:54 PM

Re: Help Removing Application

Yes. You will lose all the data on the PHONE and not the STORAGE CARD. I recommend removing the card, but it really makes no difference. I do it just to be safe.

I personally have a Mogul, but I have heard alot of good things about OMJ's custom ROM: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25335

If you would like to back up all your contacts, appointments, tasks, call logs, messages, and speed dials, you can use PIMBackup: http://www.dotfred.net/

Other than that, you have to manually back up most of your files that are on your phone.

Good luck, and read the stickies if you are unsure about something! If you can't find the answer, go to the chat area [press the button up top by USERCP] and someone will walk you through step by step.
