HTC Quick GPS CAB

Theres some OEMs for this floating around, anyone know of a cab? And is this thing carrier specific? will it work for VZW?

Thanks in advance.

yes it works with vzw.. it has nothing to do with carrier. i had to install the cab then place the quickgps.exe in the windows folder to replace the other one to get it to download right.

No, You still have to flash a new rom Quick GPS is supposed to help you get a GPS lock quicker.

Same error on the Verizon HTC Touch Pro

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

It downloads seven days of GPS position data. This data enables the GPS to quickly determine its position. I usually get a 15 second fix with this updated data. The GPS no longer has to try to figure out its current position which on a cold start can take several minutes.

Can't seem to get this to work on my Sprint Touch Pro with the VZW Rom.

The file 'QuickGPS.exe' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file.

I get this error after installing the cab and trying to run QuickGPS through the programs menu. I tried copying the other QuickGPS.exe to Windows folder on PPC but I still get the same error.

There was a Quickgps.reg file in the zip.... does that need to go somewhere/imported into the PPC registry?

I get the exact same error on the leaked VZW Touch Pro ROM as well. The Quickgps.reg file doesn't make it work either. Hmm...

Must not work with our ROM, I dunno.

I keep getting a pop up box every few seconds too so I had to uninstall it completely.

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

Yeah, this sucks. Oh well, once they get the unlocker working for the Verizon Touch Pro, I'm sure this will be able to be cooked into new ROMs. I believe NexVision has a working version of the unlocker!

I installed this on my Sprint 6900. When I open quickgps & it needs to download latest info. I click download (while syncd to pc) & it cannot connect. I use usb & allow data connections. What am I doing wrong that keeps it from connecting?

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

I've used this on my sprint touch with the modified .exe and reg edits. It works except it doesn't like to run very long in the background which means it wont be able to automatically update or notify when the satellite positions are out of date.

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

I've sucessfully installed it and it did very little to nothing to speed up GPS lock - I downlaoded the GPS position data using Quick GPS (so it obviously worked) yet Google Maps sat there for minutes (as per usual) looking for GPS satellites.. Coudl it be that Quick GPS is snake oil and HTC are having a laugh?

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

I can verify that QuickGPS is a great program. I had it on my HTC Touch Pro under Alltel, before they were bought out by Verizon. When my phone died, the only replacement they had was the Touch Diamond. Sadly, Verizon does not like to let people use third-party programs. I'm attempting the certs suggestion from above as we speak, but I can verify that when it does work as intended, the program is wonderful and makes getting a satellite quite a pleasure.

I went through the whole process of downloading both cabs and installing quickgps on my touch pro 2, but I get a "Connection failed. Please try again." message. So frustrating.

QuickGPS will NOT connect on my 6900 - HELP!

First, let me say i'm very happy to have GPS on the 6900. Works great from warm/hot starts but, can take FOREVER with cold starts. I thought QuickGPS was my savior but, apparently it's my enemy on the 6900.

Have the HTC Vouge 6900 with custom ROM. Downloaded and installed lllboredlll's cabs and certs but, it will NOT connect. I know that the satellite almanac positioning is critical to getting fast locks.

Is there any other way to get this information or a way to get the QuickGPS working on the 6900?

Can somebody tell me how exactly to patch quickgps.exe.This will help to fix GPS Weather for latest manila

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

I wish I could help Vin but I have never messed with this on my Vogue. I never really have any issues with gps. I have Windows set to manage it and if I am having any trouble with a lock I run CleanRam on Level 2 and I usually get a lock within a few seconds. What do you mean by "patch?"

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

HTC Mega ROM has packages with
-HTC Location services
-Google Location services
-HTC Quick GPS
Google maps application works fine. Now,when I run quick GPS,its downloading something and then I get message "location service must be turned on".
It is turned on(because when I run GPS weather,Google asked to turn it on)but the message is still there.I found xtra.bin in temp folder, deleted and when I run quick GPS again another xtra.bin created in temp. This means everything works ok,but the message is still there and as a result-no GPS weather. Its kinda sucks to have AGPS device and not to use AGPS weather....I saw something over at xda about patching .exe...

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

Maybe it has something to do with the sddamon service thing that runs at startup. That has something to do with gps. I'm just guessing here. lol

Re: HTC Quick GPS CAB

I'm using the Touch Pro 2 (Verizon)

- I can download qucikgps from the cab file
- I can install it to my TF3D start menu as an icon
- I can load the app and run it

BUT the download button is misplaced and when I select download it appears to download something then just sit there. No menus, nothing.
