TomTom Problem. Getting error message "No GPS Device!"

I installed TomTom v6.032 and also have the Maps of the United States and Canada.

I have tried everything but I cannot get TomTom to recognize the internal GPS receiver. Every setting in the entire program leaves me with the same error message: "No GPS Device".

Anybody have any ideas on how to get it to work? I paid decent money for this TomTom and really really want it work.

Dan.

Found this workaround:

TomTom Navigator:
  • Requires software such as "Holux GPS Viewer" to start the GPS.
  • Set the GPS to "Other NMEA GPS receiver", with a "GPS baud rate" of 4800, and set to "COM4:".
  • Requires 896MB of storage space for North American mapping data.
  • When starting TomTom, the sound is muted, and you have to choose the "Change preferences"->"Turn on sound" menu item twice to turn the sound on. This is a known behavior for TomTom if you start the application with an active data connection. If you start TomTom without an active data connection the sound will start out muted.

Installed HTC GPS TOOL from this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477 to use as a "GPS Primer" so to speak and now I cannot get an internet connection no matter what I try. My GPS is also shot. Nothing will work other than Voice and Text.

EDIT>> I flashed the Sprint Test ROM and am now able to access the internet and use GPS again. Phew... Anyways. I still cannot use HTC GPS TOOL as I believe that is what caused the problems last time.

Im having the same problem. ](*,)

I have to use google maps to get a gps lock then use IGO 8 and that works great, however I would like to be able to use TomTom or Garmin so that I can use the GPS feture if I dont have access to data.

I know that people on this board are having success using TomTom and Garmin. If you could tell us what steps, settings, radio as well as the rom you have used to make it work it would be greatly appreciated.

AstroGPSLauncher is a GPS primer and they include a link file for launching TomTom. It will solve your problem.

Only thing I can't figure out is how to add the link to the Launcher.

This is exactly what I ended up doing only I disabled the Home plugin for TomTom and removed the shortcut to TomTom itself from the programs menu and renamed the shortcut created by AstroGPSLauncher to "TomTom Navigator" and now It is a one click Primer+TomTom. Works like a charm.

Sounds great ... how do you do that???

Edit: Never mind ... figured it out. Didn't realize the program list for launcher was just the list under Start Menu | Programs.
