No Gps Signal
 

I have downloaded a couple of GPS tracking/tracing programs and none of them can seem to find a GPS signal. I have no idea where to start to debug this. How long does it usually take to get a signal?

Did you just flash to a new ROM? The first time you run a GPS program it takes a long time to lock on. After that it shouldn't take as long, but your millage will vary. Sometimes you'll lock on quick and other times it might take a few minutes. I find that as you use your GPS more your phone will lock on quicker over time. My phone used to take a while, but now I seem to lock on fairly quickly most of the time when I'm running Garmin XT.

I did just flash my rom, but I cant get a signal period, i let it set in the window for about 25 minutes trying to get a lock but no lock.

Did you install gps drivers as well as flashing, or did the rom specifically say it had GPS drivers already installed. Alltel rom for example won't enable gps until u install drivers

try installing the ppst file for your carrier

Every time i flash a new gps rom, i have to go into the reg and change the "Mode" to "4"


HLM:Software:Htc:SUPL AGPS:GPSMODE (Change from 2 to 4)

Yea I have Alltel, what drivers do I need?

Search for these ones "GPSKickStart_&_GPS_drivers_cab.zip" on ppcgeeks.. dont have a link sorry.. they work fine for me
