Cannot connect my Touch to my PC
 

Hi everyone..

I just got my brand new HTC Touch this morning and as I am trying to update it and upgrade the rom and radio, I cannot get it hooked up to my pc.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 and the error I get is that the device shows up as an Unknown Device, although it will not recognize it. I have tried reading through everything I can find on the net, and anything on Windows Remote Adapter issue and to no avail have I found a solution. If anyone has any idea how to deal with this bug I would be grateful!

Well I followed that post to a T, however I am still unable get my windows mobile device center to recognize the phone. It still says "Not Connected"

hmm that is odd i used that guide and mine with vista is working. sometimes it stops working and i click on start and type in services and stop the two windows mobile applications in there then turn them on again, then ctrl shift esc and close wmdc and then open wmdc again and it works.

EDIT: and if that fails for me, restarting the computer always works

Just download Windows Mobile Device 6.1. Just got mine connected and upgraded to leaked ROM. Vista 64 here

I appreciate the help, I tried restarting, using the Active Sync trick, and nothing... I tried reinstalling windows mobile Device center 6.1 and nothing... Instead all I get that it is finding new hardware, and "The Device Registry Key Does Not Exist" error. I am wondering if this has to do with the update to Vista SP1, since I did run into usb trouble with it.

ive never run into that problem and im running vista sp1 as well. i'll try to look around for a solution.

Not sure if this will work for you but it did for me.

Go into your Start->Settings and look in each tab for the USB to PC icon (it was in my System tab, but it could be in the Connections tab). In there, uncheck the Enable Advanced Network Functionality. Then try reconnecting and see if it works.

honestly i havent been able to connect all day. vista connecting has always been spotty for me, i wish there was a way to fix this :-x
