Bluetooth Hardware issues - new guy searching
 

First off - this forum is straight up the BOMB. You guys are incredible with your tweaks and ROM updates ... my cranium is in a cyclone with all the killer updates available. Ive done the MacFlo Big Button skin upgrade - thanks to the makers of that !!! Too chicken to go for the GPS rom and radio updates.

Sorry if my first post is a total newb or DAQ ... but Ive been searching for 2 lengthy sittings trying to find a BT thread on my issue.

Trying to PAIR this motorola earpiece thang ... an H385 - part of some package they upsold me at Verizon with my XV6900. Which is really NOT the problem - only .... the way I detected my Touch has a BlueTooth issue [methinks]

Comm Manager indicates BT is ON ...

Set the earpiece up for Pairing by holding the power button - light indicates pairing mode enabled - gtg there ...

On the XV6900 ...

Settings | Connections | BlueTooth | Devices | Add A New Device ...

Just searches and spins for long while and ...

Error ... problem with Bluetooth Hardware - OK

Mode always says Turn on Bluetooth = unchecked
- make this device visible = unchecked
regardless of what comm mannager indicates.

Have Softbooted several times ... No Joy.

Suggestions Links Ideas ... ????

Is my issue stupid or just no one else has seen this?

If there is an alternate topic to search - Id appreciate a tip. This is getting really aggrevating trying to make bluetooth function.

Windows update? Phone was activated 72 hrs ago ...

I have noticed that my touch is a little picky with some headsets, but it has never done that. I would have to say you need to bring it back to the store and get them to either help you or most likely replace a deffective device. I have yet to see any updates from windows.

Verizon replaced the Unit ... with a new one.

Glad I dl'd the Sprite backup and last night and did the whole system!

Verizon folks said they couldnt get my system over onto the replacement phone because they couldnt get Blue Tooth to work.

Is there ANY BT software that might have been munged by loading software skins and keyboards software - like say MacFlo Big Button or other?

Damn .. hope this SPRITE RESTORE works good ... Many hours of upgrades setups and tweaks will be LOST - not to mention contact data.

If there's BT software that can get hosed - Im wondering if my restore wont just replicate the same issues?

Wish me luck ...

A restore shouldn't replicate the problems as it sounds like it was hardware issue. Software rarely 'breaks' hardware on these devices.

Should have come back to finish and state - all is bueno now. Sprite restore worked. I have all my contacts and configs and the new Vzw device is connecting to bluetooth devices like a champ.
