Hope I don't get killed for asking:

So well I've been doing a bunch of research on here to figure out how to swap a phone I found on the ground to my current service. I'm on sprint, I used the ESN guide to swap the "newly found" phone to 0000000 and I have my current phone which is active and paid up which I want to use to swap over to the "newly found" phone. Question is how do I go about doing this?

Quite literally I found the phone on the ground. But I do understand ESN tampering is illegal, but knowledge is power and thats why I asked.

Return the phone to its owner...

I had my phone lost some time ago, the person never returned it to me (i know someone had it), but still, I would return the phone to the owner.

I just think that one good action leads to another one... think about it...

hmmm...looks like members of this site stand by their morals. No one is going to condone your tampering with someone else's property, whether found or "other." However, google does offer loads of info on modifying ESNs as does another site (that shall not be named but it gives phone support as well) that will aid you in crushing another's hope of getting their phone back.

*But in the words of Mark Twain: "Do the right thing. It will gratify some and astonish the rest.*

Changing ESN#'s are a pain, especially from one provider to another.
Did the phone work when you first found it? As in, did it have active service before you switched the esn to 0's?
Which service was it on?
