Help with quickdial picture clarity!
Sorry if this has been addressed but I've searched several times. Has anyone noticed poor clarity of the pics in the quickdial? I first tried to import a pic from my pc (taken with a 6mp digital camera) to use as one of the quickdial pics. I cropped it to a square @ 500x500 pixels in Photoshop. Not knowing too much about image files, I figured it would look pretty sharp when the phone shrunk it down to the 72x75. Wrong, it looked like crap. Then I figured maybe it was too much of a change for the phone and it couldn't shrink it smoothly, so I made it 250x250 with Photoshop and still looked like crap on the quickdial. So then I finally just resized it to 72x75 with PS and put it on the phone. What do you know, still like crap in the quickdial, but the strange thing is when I view the 72x75 pic with the picture viewer, it looks clear as a bell, being the same exact size on screen. So I figured that's just how the dialer is, then I looked at my girlfriends touch, and she had pics in the dialer that she took with the phone itself, and they are crystal clear. I'm like ftw! So I compaire the phone pics to the ones I was using and the only difference I could see was the dpi, phone pics using 72 and mine using 300. So I changed that to 72dpi and made it 240x320 like the phone pic, a little better, but not like the phone pics. I've tried lower dpi's (same thing) and even using the original 1.28MB pic (just came out blurry). Now mind you they don't look so bad that you can't recognize the person, but when I see how clear they can be, it pisses me off. Sorry about the long post but I like to be thorough when I post so the info is clear. I hope someone has the secret, but any help would be appreciated. If need be, I could take pics and post them.

Re: Help with quickdial picture clarity!
Do you have a third party contact manager like icontact or PocketCM? This seems to be the problem with me. In their respecive programs they are clear, but in quickdial they are not. (I disabled the cube)

Re: Help with quickdial picture clarity!
No, I'm using the standard contact manager. I have the home customizer installed, but that's about it for apps.

I've noticed that too. I just figured it was a limitation of the software.

Re: Help with quickdial picture clarity!
ok no one's come up with a reason for this yet. that's scary. I'm sure it has to do with the OS' compression algorithm but there should be a fix somewhere!

Re: Help with quickdial picture clarity!
Try using Outlook to edit your contacts. There is an option to add pictures within each contact. This fixed the problem for me. All my quick dial picks are as clear as the originals now.

Re: Help with quickdial picture clarity!
I am using Outlook 2003. Open up Outlook, click on the contacts tab, double click on a contact in your list or click new if you don't have any. In the center of the new window you should see an option to add a pic to a contact. Click on it, that's it.
