To VIRSER or not to VIRSER

So who's installing virser_gps.dll in the leaked sprint rom, and who isn't? Anybody done tests to see if it actually helps or not?

I did at first, but since then I have had no problems following a hard reset to get a GPS lock without adding the DLL. One thing that may be true is that the customizations run something with EPST which is required to be run atleast once to get GPS to work. The 2nd hard reset the setting will still be present and you can get GPS without doing anything and not letting the customizations run

I did at first since the OP of the ROM said the file was missing. I have since then removed it and can tell no difference, my GPS functions just the same.

Re: To VIRSER or not to VIRSER

Virser is one of the dll's that helped the GPS device start up out of standby mode, using the old Altell rom. Although with Sprint leaked rom I beleive it actually hinders the GPS. Where it does not work with the other combination of dll's correctly. The GPS does power up correctly without this dll correctly using the leaked rom. Also it might be hinderring AGPS functionalty on the device, I have not have time to fully test this theory thoroughly. Though having virser disabled, and still not having a GPS lock, Garmin is now able to pick up my location with a block radius, while driving. Before it would not work till I had a GPS lock. I have also set gpsmode to 4, and change the ip, and port address to Sprint's server.

If you are using the PPCKitchen try unloading the driver, and set it not to autmaticly load. See if you get any improvements through out the day with virser disabled.

Till we get the correct virser dll might be better of not using it, might cause more harm then good.

One way to tell if it's being used at all is try to delete it while GPS is running.

I don't think it's used at all with the leaked ROM setup.

Can not delete it if you are using the ppckitchen, upon soft reset it will be back. The only way is to disable it.

In the leaked ROM it already had a service entry, which is why I posted it as missing. It was setup to load, but there was no dll.

I don't see it as a service but it is in there as a device driver for a Virtual COM port called GPS1.

I have it still installed. (leaked rom, not kitchen). Works just fine, no issues, grabs a lock/fix fairly quickly (less then a minute), outdoors. Looses the signal indoors though.
