Touch/Custom ROM and some strangeness
 

I've been runing the JD's Alltel ROM on my sprint touch for about 11 days now and i am seeing some strange (albeit not show stopping) behaviour.

Just now, the phone was sitting beside me on my desk and out of the corner of my eye I noticed the camera turn on...then an Outlook reminder I had scheduled popped up. :scratch:

Lately, when I go to google.com, i get redirected to the spanish version of google...it started doing this about 3 days ago...I cant get to the english version, even my PIE bookmark to google redirects me to the spanish version...bummer is I dont read or speak spanish. :scratch:

The GPS has been real solid, and my revA speeds are back to where they should be, yesterday they were horrendous.

Also, under the Pics and Vids section of messaging, everything is directed towards alltel servers, but I use sprint...I do get text messages, i was just wondering what this is all about.

I actually have been having the same problems with JD's Alltel rom, i've just kinda been ok wit it to have gps workin perfectly

That is why i like to cook my own using stock base. I remove all the useless stuff to make it stable etc.
I cooked one using alltel's stock base and my touch is running perfect.

OK, i reflashed to OMJ latest Sprint based ROM and I still have the wierd "Google thinks I'm spanish" issue...anyone have a clue why google redirects me to www.google.com/m ??

Google is checking the USER_AGENT string in your browser, determining that you're on a mobile phone, and redirecting you to http://www.google.com/m (the mobile version of google's search page). This is normal behavior.

Redirect is normal, however the Spanish isn't... I'm getting the same thing using DHARVEY'S Black Vista ROM V2.9. Going directly to http://news.google.com/news?output=xhtml in PIE takes me to Spanish version, no redirection. This is only appearing since my use of the upgrade.

That too is why I use a stock version that is made for my phone. Having a newer sys is always cool because it's a higher number, but HTC and Sprint have spent thousands of hours testing the CE OS 5.2.19208 SYS on the device I own. And it is quite stable. Some of the newer versions are faster, but it makes me think if the some of the newer builds are to correct issues/make it work on the newer phone it was released on. Suppose that may be why some roms/kitchens are having issues with touchflo, cube not working, dialer issues....etc...

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with what others are doing, I'm just saying mine works... :)

yeah I agree with you about the microsoft htc sprint build of WM this is why I also would use 19208 as a base for my roms and I just update the packages if needed .... however I've have good luck with the kaiser builds ... my hybrids are just experimental ... they may be "fast" but I like to keep everything factory when I'm making something that I plan on using for a while and oh yeah .... I never made a alltel gps rom .......
