My screen was starting to do the same thing at 5 months old. I called sprint and they tried to tell me to use my insurance and it would cost me the fifty dollars. After i complained enough they finally caved and offered me a my choice of a diamond or a pro to replace it. I had to renew my contract (I was only 5 months in so no biggie) and after all there discounts it cost me a $100 out of pocket. It's funny because they called HTC about the problem and even know my local sprint store said there is no known problem the HTC rep told them that is an issue with the touch. Offered to fix it for free if i shipped to them. So might do that and then sell it for the $100. Just thought i would let you guys know that if you complain enough Sprint will cave.

Mine is doing the same thing.. what is the warranty on the Touch? I bought it in June of 08. I also have the TEP which from what I hear will go up to 100$ deductible in April. What is my best route to get my phone replaced with the lowest cost?

I have the rectangular rainbow on my Sprint DIAMOND which is only 3 months old. I have not inquired or tried to resolve the issue yet. I may just let it in unless this phenomenon gets worse as time goes on. I will either go to the Sprint store or call HTC. It is noticeable at certain angles. it is obviously a defect as the rectangular rainbow is almost a perfect rectangle. This is a strange phenomenon but the manufacturer has to be aware of this issue and know what the cause is in the manufacturing process. Strange that it occurs months later but surely a clue to what is the cause for people in the know. I would rather have the screen replaced than the whole phone at this point since I have my Diamond set up pretty nicely.

Mine has been like that since the day i bought it like a year ago and it still works fine.

Fortunately, or unfortunately for my hopes of getting a Diamond replacement..., it took the techs at my local Sprint store 30 minutes to completely replace the touch screen and it's gone. Didn't cost me a thing.

I took my phone in a couple weeks ago. They ordered me a brand new touch and let me keep the box with all the accessories. My case was starting to crack a little so I got a brand new case too. :)

This has happened to me twice, with my screen progressively becoming less responsive. I've gotten my phone replaced for free twice (via the ESRP part of the TEP program) - got brand new phones both times (just the Touch though, sadly not the diamond or the pro).
