This notification can be WAV, WMA, MP3, 3GP(sound only). And usually reside in \windows or \my documents folders. What issues are you problems with?

When I click the drop box to select a tone all I can see in there is the "factory" tones. None of the ringtones I have made are in that drop box.

Re: newb needs help

the solutions been posted already.

drop the .wav file into the windows folder.

I also recommend you make you notifications short, because windows mobile will play the ENTIRE notification when you get a text, and there isnt a way to stop it til its done. so if you get 3 texts back to back your phone is going to sound real loud and annoying cuz the same song will be playing at the same time with 3 different starts and ends

If you have the files in the right folder and the right file format, then it should work.

What directory are the files in?
What happens when you select the file in a file explorer?

My instructions above were pretty specific, follow those directions and it should be fine...Or find a friend that can help. Or go to an alltell store.
