Low Level Format Program

I contacted Kingston Technologies this morning. Because it was early (7:00 am EST) I got a bloke from London.

He suggested I wait until the office in the US was open to pursue my problem which is a 2GB storage card that is always corrupting.

Also I asked if he could recommend a good formatting tool and he suggested this website to download a Low Level Formatting program.

I downloaded and tried it. It seemed to work fine but you have to be VERY careful not to format the wrong drive. After using the program Windows XP will find the drive and ask if you want to Format it. I said yes and now the storage card seems OK.

I think there are other free formatting programs out there but I haven't been able to locate them.

If areas of the memory card are going bad, formatting will mark those areas as such and not use them when you format, fixing the issue temporarily... but if you keep having to format to fix a corrupt card, (unless it's a software issue causing corruption) it could be a defective card.

You might not have any issues with it anymore, but you may want to make sure you keep a backup of whatever important stuff you have on the card.

Hope this helps... hopefully after this last format you won't have any more issues.

Well it's got so bad that I have all storage card info on a separate folder on my computer hard-drive.

I just checked the phone and the storage card was already all goofed up. Dozens of files that had that little open box in the front and almost all of the files were gone.

I checked the card in an adapter and all was OK. Re-inserted the card into the phone and all was back to normal. What the heck does that mean?

It could possibly be your phone. Do you use custom ROMS? What model are you using?
