Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
I believe I have come to a realization of a possible reason why the Touch Keyboard is so damn slow.
As you are typing with the Touch keyboard, the text is displayed twice. Once in the keyboard top bar, and once in the text input box. That's twice as slow. Touchpal only displays what is being typed on the keyboard and then when you click on the word or hit the space key it inputs it into the text input box. All said, this means the Touch keyboard is twice as slow as Touchpal. Personally I prefer the Touch keyboard and if it was possible to make it work similarly to Touchpal, that would be awesome. Does anyone know if this is possible? |
Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.

Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
yea i can see how some people prefer it i have seen some things floating around here about fixed touch keyboards im not exactly sure what its talkin about because i dont use it. i tried it for a little while but large and sometimes uncordinated thumbs do not like the htc keyboard. ill do some asking around anf see what is fixed about the keyboard. if i find any info or your solution i will be sure to post asap.

Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
i found out what the fix was and it wasnt what you are looking for sorry. but on the touchpal site they have instructions on how to make your own layout and i bet you could make one look and feel exactly like the htc touch keyboard again sorry no real solution but i believe my suggestion above is possible.and one more thing what is it exaclty you dont like about touch pal i might be able to help that with a quick solution.

Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
I wish CooTek would make a layout that looks like the HTC one.

Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
i have a skin that is the same color as the htc one but there is no changes in button layout.

That's what I need could you post it or where 2 get some skins, thanks. |
Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
yea, i'd like a different colored skin as well, this blue is kinda annoying me lol.
but on topic, I think the suggestion on customizing touchpal would probably be the best solution. I don't know if the double printing of the touch keyboard is really what slows it down (though I don't know what does, just speculation). I actually just switched to TouchPal v3 (I tried v2 but I didn't like it, I don't know why) I like the seperate button keyboard layout. I can actually type pretty precisely with it, and with the predictive text I can also type sloppily if I want and it'll still come out with what I was saying. I've been using it for about |
Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
i'm enjoying touchpal v3 so far, plus i just installed the default skin for it on my touch. it makes the UI alot better...

Re: Touchpal vs. Touch Keyboard.
i really like using the touchpal. it took quite a while to get used to but found it much more efficient.
OP: sounds like you might be looking for something like this: http://pocketcm.com/keyboard.php ? and then skin it? |
