Custom ROM based off offical sprint rom

EDIT: I wrote a horrible title. I believe they are all based on the offical ROM however I don't want 6.1 ported over into it, just 6.0, I think 6.1 causes freezing.

My phone has been freezing constantly. I love some of the changes many of you had made with custom ROM's and some of them I really have grown acustom to. I choose one in particular that I liked and after going through a bunch... it wasn't too bad on freezing initially. It's gotten worse lately and its really unbearable to have it freeze just sitting over night charging and not be able to recieve any morning calls cause i don't realize its frozen... plus it drains the battery.

So basically I'm looking for one in which people haven't had freeze (with use over at least a week) or if anyone is doing custom ROM's not based on the 6.1 windows mobile... which i think is the issue.

Have you tried OMJ's v7? I have tried many and his is the only one that has never frozen for me... but no matter which rom you use i can not guarantee it will not freeze, because that is the issue with 6.1 and it is still not officially released for that reason... However, i do believe JD is working on a hybrid 6.0 rom that sounds like what you are asking for.. JD is a respected chef and has made some very nice 6.1 roms with great features and themes.. it should be coming soon so just stay tuned to his forum... hope i was helpful!

yes that was a very helpful reply i appreciate it.

I've tried OMJ's rom but was turned off by quick menu and the subsequent figuring out how to properly disable it. There might've been another issue though, not sure if it froze. I'll have to give it another shot.

I can say its easy to disable that quickmenu.. You just simply exit it and it will ask you to say yes for quitting and not running on startup. I appreciate the quickmenu but noticed OMJs latest ROM just having 50-65 of Free Ram. Right now I been running DNJ latest ROM which I like as much as I like OMJ because they are also Sprint users as me, and DNJ is the most visually tweaked ROM (Vista Keyboard, Clock Theme etc) out of the box.
Since i'm a newbie this works fine for me. I haven encountered freeze with all 6.1 ROM while I'm doing major Texting..

I'm in the same boat, Looking for the MOST clean rom and need the threaded text. I guess I can just load my stock rom and load the threaded fix. Is it a problem if I reset the phone right before it tries to install the custom sprin cabs? I'm not interested in those.

I can build a ROM that uses WM6.0 instead of 6.1 for you guys.

I'll work on it and upload it to the FTP. You guys will have to be my beta testers though, as I don't have time to flash it and verify everything on it right now.

Here is a link to a WM6.0 build. It is the same as my 6.1 v17 build, but uses WM6.0.

Filename is

dnj04_wm60_v17.exe

Awesome. Really appreciate your doing that...in another note, I'm not sure I'll actually flash it, as I've gotten quite used to the 6.1 threaded messaging (so spoiled). If only that palm cab would push the text box above the keyboard....
And yes, I know about the moving keyboard fix, but thats just not a pleasant experience.

No problem. I won't use it either :)

Yeah I agree with the consesus here. When 6.1 freezes it really freezes. Plugging it in to a power source won't wake it up yet the status light still flashes. Nothing hurts more than having to take my snapon case off to take the battery out; the snaps are getting looser each time I have to do that...

I too would love to hear some user opinions of Roms without exaggerations. The next thing is to flash back to a stock rom. Threaded SMS is nice but not worth the trouble. Personally tried out: OMJ's 6.1 (quickmenu and the excess progs turned me off) and the OEM version which freezes more than anything but quick.
