well as for this thats what the whole thread is about :)

I created a CAB file for easier installation, maybe to get people not quite as familiar or those who are technically challenged a chance to try out Android. It basically just installs the files for you instead of you having to download and then copy them over manually. It also has a start menu programs shortcut. It's posted at http://myhtcphone.com/downloads/14-f...omatic-install
Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

but thats great thx a lot for your contribution! will update op

I updated the cab file to include new changes dzo made. I also have added a Windows installer so you dont have to copy the cab file to the device.

I'll also keep the date updated on the article of when I last updated the files.

Again, the files are located at:

I posed this over at XDA, but thought I would drop it here as well....

Not to steal anyone's thunder.... but I started a few wiki pages to help track some of the efforts regarding porting Android to some of the HTC devices talked about on these boards.

I would really, really appreciate some help getting these wiki pages filled with better info. I think these wiki pages will help answer some of the questions we keep seeing over and over again in the thread. I hope that we could also help foster some new development with the information being more centralized.

Thus far, I have just started updating the page dedicated to the HTC Vogue, but would welcome any contribution regarding any device that someone is running Android on. So far I have created pages for the following:
HTCVoguePort <- so far only basic info
HTCTitanPort <- so far only a place holder page
HTCKaiserPort <- so far only a place holder page
HTCNikePort <- so far only a place holder page
HTCPolarisPort <- so far only a place holder page

Thanks,
Ryan

I loaded this up, it's pretty neat. Buggy though... if you are lucky, it runs great some times, and will make and receive calls, and lets you use the browser. The browser isn't that spectacular. Google maps is a bit flaky too, it is tough to get it to zoom to where you want it.

The UI is spectacular though, I hope that the final product ends up looking close.

Try my modified initrid-android file (make sure to back yours up):
http://www.fileqube.com/shared/wBEatgKz49406

Includes following .apk's in /data/apps/
- android_blackjack (does not appear in menu?)
- android_file_browser_2.0 (does not appear in menu?)
+ androidGlobalTime.apk (included in DZO's pkg, works)
+ opera_mini_4.0 (appears in menu, works)
+ sms.apk (included in DZO's pkg, works)
- snake.apk (does not appear in menu?)
+ Xlive.apk (appears in menu, works)

Haret will not open the file if it is bigger than 25mb, so I will need to try other apps later. Anyone got any idea why some apps show up and others don't?

-Jake

Just used your file... the ones you said don't show up for me either. What are you using to edit the initrid-android file? I'm like to help try some apps.

hey everyone....im new to the WM world. I'm a total newb and would appreciate it very much if someone can list or explain what is needed to "try" and get android up and running.

I have an Sprint HTC Mogul.

What files do I need to install and what files do I need to modify (if needed)?

Thanks ahead.

Thanks for the file. The only reason I got this phone is because I want a g-phone really bad. I just tried it and its a little buggy but very cool none the less. Can't wait til I can use it exclusively and dump WM

download via right click, save as rather than clicking on them as some people seem to have issues otherwise. you need haret, zimage, initrd and default.txt. place them all in a folder, call it whatever you want but android is easiest, and copy the folder to your phone. anywhere is fine, but has to be on the phone and not the storage card. locate haret file, click on it and hit run (i think, whatevers up on the top right). enjoy android! you have to do a soft reset to get out of it, but you dont actually install anything on the phone so you cant mess it up.

Hey this OS rocks. Except its not linux lol. Well not "native". It is mainly done with java which is isnt as technical, But does have it's own unique advantages. I have a linux programmer and c++ coder That took a look and is saddened by this. He calls Java "kiddie" code. He was gonna make us apps too :( You see, coders prefer a challenge, not simplicity. When they get BT and WIFI API's he probably will be. But once it's stable and has everything I would love in a phone, It's gonna be my #1!
