Getting rid of the cube
I appreciate all the efforts made by those in this forum to modify the cube. As I'm looking for an EASY way to use my phone I'd really like to hear what people think about this program availalbe for $10.00 Here's the link
http://www.iphonethemeforpocketpc.com/demo.php I can't help but wonder if giving up the cube in favor of something like this might be the way to go. Has anyone tried this program? I'd be interested in comments and feedback on whether people think this program would make a smart phone VERY user friendly. Rick |

Why don't you try them first and it's free. |
Re: Getting rid of the cube
The link to the software you provided requires Wisbar Desktop & Advance.....I would pass on this because there are SO MANY more options when it comes to today (home) screens such as SPB Mobile Shell, Ultimate Launch, etc....

Re: Getting rid of the cube
tha cube is a useful thing...well in my opinon...jus do you...but there are some pretty nice iphone themes on this forum...check them out...

Re: Getting rid of the cube
I'm not impress with that iphone theme at all..... You should try Torxs iphone theme it simply the best IMO!!!!!!!!

Re: Getting rid of the cube
That install process is insane. Looks like they "borrowed" a bunch of stuff that is available.
I don't care how cute it is, just functional. I use the Custom Start Menu, The stock HTC Launcher (disabled the Cube) and Task switcher, Stock Weather Panel and VC command. It's stable, fast and functional. But if you're bored and want to play go for it. |
Re: Getting rid of the cube
Yeah, it looks like this will end up costing you a lot more than $10 since wisbar advanced costs $10 and wisbar desktop costs $10.....
that's $30 compared to $0...hmm. http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/ |
Re: Getting rid of the cube
Try ultimate launch .. lets you load multiple today plugins and hide them out of the way on a 2nd tab, then just slide finger across screen to change tabs portion of scren even rotates. It doesn't have anything to do with iPhone but has made my phone so much better/easier to navigate.

if you want to spend money on a program to use instead of the cube i recommend spb mobile shell I use that with touchFLO to flick it open.

Re: Getting rid of the cube
Appreciate all the responses. The cube has grown on me. Yet MusicMan and others have done so much more with it than HTC it's a shame. I mean had they used imagination and allowed each side of the cube to be customized, is suspect this phone would sell tens of thousands of more units. The cube that is offered is unimaginative. Does anyone know if HTC has any plans to change the cube.
The Instinct by Samsug coming out in June looks much more user friendly than the Cube. |
Re: Getting rid of the cube
if you dont want to buy any software and you want to turn your cube into an iphone style launcher, try icube
however if you're like me and spb mobile shell is *essential* software on your phone as well, here's how to disable touchcube: 1. back up \Windows\Biotouch.exe 2. make a copy of MobileShell.exe from the spb installation folder and rename it to Biotouch.exe 3. copy your new executable to \Windows to replace the cube 4. soft reset This is guaranteed to work in resco; I cant vouch for any other file manager. You could probably use any dummy executable too. Q. Why would I want to disable Touchcube if I run SPB Mobile Shell? A. Because SPB Mobile Shell makes the Touchcube look like a complete joke. It does everything Touchcube can do plus much much more. And since sliding your thumb down the screen from the Start button pops up Mobile Shell, there's no reason to keep Touchcube running in the background. |
