Caller ID getting cut off
 

I get this problem with all of my calls recently. The text gets cut off for no apparent reason. See how the name is cut off? wtf. This is how it looks for contacts I have saved with pictures.

For new numbers that I do not have saved, it looks like this. Completely worthless. You can't read the number at all. I have no clue why it started doing this, but it is really pissing me off. Just yesterday I let 3 calls go to voicemail because I couldn't tell who it was. ](*,)

it happens to me also...not all the time, but enough to piss me off also. Cant seem to figure it out...so soft reset.

It happens to me sometimes too...then I soft reset and it stops for a period...I would be interested in what software we have in common to see what can possibly be causing this...

This just started happening to me too. It started three days ago. I did a soft reset and it seemed to fix the issue. (for now!)

Same with me... started about 2 weeks ago... has happened maybe 3 times, soft reset fixes it each time.

I'm using the stock Sprint rom... I've done the power saving reg edits, the registry change so the end call button hangs up immediately (instead of 3 seconds)... no other programs installed really. I did add some contact pictures for people and assigned different ringtones for different people... I never noticed the problem before I did that. It's a rare issue though.

yep happened to me while I had MSVC installed once I uninstalled that it has worked fine

i know that cutting off or not showing at all can be becasue you used sip change and some keyboards dont play nicely as being the default...... one for example that i know is zoomboard through vito

My wife is having the same issue on her Alltel touch, not sure what is causing hers it is almost compleately stock, well actually it is stock.

yea i just want to say I HATE THE TOUCH i glady downgraded to a lovely mogul because i started having that issue constantly and my calls stopped coming in while in sleep mode as well as texts too i had other various small issues with that device and was told by a buddy at a radioshack that the touch is defective not all touchs but a good amount of them but he said sprint employees wouldnt admit it but i got a few to spit it out, after dealing with my touch like that for a few months i started my complaints and got a awesome mogul from insurance i suggest the same for those experiencing this problem they RRREALLY tried to push me into getting another touch and i wouldnt.just too fed up...and by the way mine was COMPLETELY stock.

there was a similar thread when the touch was released not sure if it resulted in any concrete causes. Most reported that a soft reset would fix it. I actually experience it less now that i'm running cooked roms versus the stock release rom.

There is a "fix" that doesn't require soft reset. Go to the programs tab, and swap orientation from vertical to horizontal and back. Oh and mine does it too.

well you jus happened to be one of the unlucky ones.. sorry about YOUR experience with the touch.. but the phone definately kicks a$$, too bad you didnt get to experience it like the rest of us

i havent ever experienced the text cutoff issue before. I have used stock ROMs and Custom ROMs and never experienced this issue. I dont believe it has to do with a specific program.

I've had the same issue, not all the time but randomly. It's really annoying. If it's a contact without a picture id, i have no idea who's calling.

me too...I always have to soft reset after it starts annoying me...seems as though it happens to me when I haven't reset the phone in a while or if I've been using a lot of memory ? not sure specifically. I only have:

-Cube Config Tool (which I haven't even used yet)
-Google Maps
-Resco
-SPB Backup

i had the same issue before i downgraded to the mogul. however one of the things i noticed when i did have the touch was that whenever that happened the memory of the touch was jumping up to about 70 percent with out any programs running except for activesync. i closed activesync and the memory usage went down to normal and they problem fixed. however after a couple of hours activesync started up again and the same isse would happen again. dont know if that is exactly the problem however thats how i would fix it.

happens to me too. soft reset fixes it. didn't start until I downloaded content to my phone

dont get me wrong..considering i was able to use the phone for all the goodies it had and i have to say they were excellent.better than the mogul jus the clearness of the screen and the speed of everything and the memory i was happy..jus when things started going wrong where the most important part about having a phone at all stopped working,not recieving calls,texts,data,cutoff caller id and it even got kinda glitchy on me after a while,so im not saying ALL touchs' are bad but the few that are defected arent worth the headaches and i could have gotten another new one but i didnt wana have to deal with ne thing like that again...and i really appreciate having a physical keyboard as well, but thats just my own opinion

i used to have the same problem with my phone. what i notice was when i went to my today screen and went to the items sections and added the voice message to my main screen, that's when i got the cut off caller i.d.. took the voice message off and haven't had the problem anymore. figured i didn't need it when i noticed that there's an icon on the top of the screen to let me know that theres a voice message. also noticed that if you don't check your voice messages your phone won't charge fast. if you see the orange light flashing while charging then that means that you have a voice message.:headbang:

IT IS NOT THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE RELATED.

That said there is no reason to list what you have installed. Testing (my own and many others) has shown that it will occur on Touchs that are fresh out of the box.. post syncing.

I have a hunch that it has something to do with Contacts or Calendar data since I've experienced it on 5 different Touch handsets so far and the ONLY common thread between them is the fact that I sync them with my Outlook data.

i have been having the same issue.. i think its the sprint htc plugin ..just turned it off and it is working fine now

Bell is releasing a new software load 1.19.666.1 ...this should fix your problem !!! also fixes freezes up during calls
