2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
Hello, I want to use my HTC Touch and hook it up to Car audio.
So, I have a jack that came with Touch, which is 2.5mm I believe. Now I need to get 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack to hook it into car aug hole. But, way I understand from previous links, it will not work as a stereo? people complained about it being only played on one side of a speaker. Is this true? only will work as a mono? Thanks |

Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
I use this
http://www.wirelessground.com/touchcarmount.html with a jack I got from Helio device when I worked for them awhile back. I know the radio shack convertors will only play on one side if you jam it all the way in if you play with it some you can get it to work in stereo. |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!

I have this adapter and I have gotten it to work in stereo. If you plug this adapter into the phone adapter all the way you get sound out of only one speaker. If you pull the adapter out slightly you will hear sound from both sets of speakers. Hope this helps. |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
thx alot guys!
I ended up ordering http://cgi.ebay.ca/3-5mm-Earphone-Ad...QQcmdZViewItem. I just gotta wait for it to get shipped and try it out. It seems like Jack with 2 strip is mono and 3 strip is stereo just like guitar jacks :P |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
there are two adapters availible from radio shack only one will work. The two contact adapter does not work however the 3 contact adater does . I have used it for a while now and it works for stereo. However there is a problemwith because it is 3 contacts left and right channel and mic when you try to answer a call you have to unplug from usb even with bluetooth hadsfree the device detects mic from adater and and will not allow mic on phone or bluetooth to work. I am agoing to try usb to 3.5mm to see if it works. I have taken apart a oem htc usb to 2.5 adater and I have pinouts I am finishing this weekend. I tried to find one that was the same that came with mogul on internet cannot closes i could find was a usb to enourmous dongul with two usb and 3.5mm jack. I cannot believe that no company could not of just reproduced the stock one a y cable with one usb and 3.5mm jack so I have to make one.

Let me see if I remember ANSII art... The adapter has 4 conductors. ........XXX==|=|=|= Conductor: 1 2 3 4 1 = Ground 2 = Sound (right or left) 3 = Sound (right or left) 4 = microphone If you pull it partially out, it will make contact with what it needs to be stereo. The RadioShack 274-004 adapter rewires the connectors to line up with regular headphones and does nothing with the microphone connector. Quote:
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/...pin_config.png The above diagram is of the EMU plug viewed end-on. Enhanced Mini USB (EMU) connectors are double sided. One side carry's the USB signal data while the other carries audio signals. The pin config is as follows. Data A = GND B = NC C = +DATA D = -DATA E = +5v Audio 1 = +Mic 2 = +Right 3 = Switch 4 = Gnd 5 = Gnd 6 = +Left You can find Enhanced Mini USB connectors on a variety of devices. The above config covers the USB configuration of the HTC Oxygen devices and HTC Meteor devices and probably many more. Use at your own risk though, play safe! Forgot where I found it, but I saved it for all. So who wants to build a couple thousand? Cheap! |

http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Stereo-M...sbs_a_title_27 that has a bend at the usb end that covers up the charge port of the Y adapter cable so you can't charge and listen at the same time; making it practically useless considering how quickly the touch battery discharges when playing music. |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
Might I also suggest this:
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?p...15366&cat=2877 If you use the good Radio Shack adapter, you still have to use the 2.5 adapter (presumably stock), plug in the 3.5, then the head sets/car wire. That's like 3 cables in the chain, and just one needs a little static in it. |

When I wrote this, they didn't have any in stock so I asked them to let me know when they were back in stock. Thay had been selling them on ebay for less, so I checked there after I got notice that they were back in stock. I did a search on ebay for the item and found several others such as here: http://cgi.ebay.com/3in1-audio-Adapt...QQcmdZViewItem I made an offer of $6.00 and got it for that (whatta deal!!!!) |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
Hi,
I just got a HTC Wizard and i bought the adapter from radioshack (posted earlier with the 3 rings on the connector) and it did not work for me. Audio came out through my right side only. If i moved it a little, it would come out the left side only. What are some solutions for this for me? |

Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
<p>I'm currently using the mini-usb to 3.5mm adapter from Amazon and an FM transmitter/craddle for the ipod nano I got from ebay that has a 3.5mm jack. With that I get Garmin XT thru my car speakers. I tried using it as a hands free but it cause feedback and the person on the other line ends up hearing themselves so I just use my bluetooth for calls.</p>

Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
This is the one that I'm currently using:
http://www.oriongadgets.com/product_...oducts_id=2087 So far I've had no major issues with it. Some benefits of this one are: a) it's got a mic too, so I can use regular headphones with a mic (as requested by pocomike) b) it's much more flexible, so makes it easier to stick in my pocket or move around and whatever (e.g. won't force my plug to stick out of the touch now that it's sideways, and don't have to worry about how it sits in my pocket). Hope that helps... |

I have insurance so I will try shorting pin 3 to ground (that looks right to me too rstoyguy, someone let me know ASAP if we're wrong!!) and see if that works. Will post results... Just an FYI, it's easy to mod the stock headphones. Just cut off earbuds, and solder the three wires (left, right, and ground) to a $1 Radio Shack 3.5mm male plug. Works well. |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
a lot of decks have bluetooth for talking on the phone, would it be possible to play music from our devices via bluetooth (sorry if this is a stupid question, i havent looked into it much)

Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
Trying to respond to two posts here... so bear with me.
Adz1966, I have verified this myself, but I believe the following schematic is what you are looking for. I do know that I have come across some threads talking about this as well: http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/...tor_pin_config sprinttouch666, Yes, it is very possible to play music from our devices. They support A2DP which is essentially for stereo bluetooth headsets (I'm sure somebody will correctly if I'm wrong). |
Re: 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio output!!
I modded the HTC headset with a Y/3.5 splitter by splicing the earbud wires to the female(right/left) connector ends of the Y splitter and have working stero/mic now.. Only thing is I still can't charge while listening to music or using phone.
total cost = $0 |
