It seems Sprint Touch does not support GPS, :(
Last month, we opened Sprint Touch and compared it with Titan, it seems the Sprint Touch shorts some components and antenna for GPS. It means Sprint Touch will not support GPS, it is really a bad news!
Please refer the below link, we put the photos on our forum. http://www.diypda.com/viewthread.php...extra=page%3D1 If you have any different idea, please feel free to put your advice in this thread or our forum. |
Re: It seems Sprint Touch does not support GPS, :(
i thought the touch and the titan had totally different chipsets?
IIRC the mogul showed no antenna for the gps as well, but apparently it was just embedded in the chipset itself. i really hope your discovery is just due to the different layout, as i am looking forward to a sufficient standalone gps unit |

The Vogue and the Titan DO have the same chipset.
GPS is part of that chip set. |
Re: It seems Sprint Touch does not support GPS, :(
The Chipset is the
Qualcomm MSM7500. Embedded in the chip is gpsOne GPS module. You can go to this page to get the information about the chip. Also here is the specs page for the Sprint Touch. http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a7500 This is for the chipset. This is for the Specs of Sprint Touch. http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Sprint+Touch I talked to Tech Person from Sprint last night, who is working on fixing problems on the Sprint Touch, including the SprintTV issue and a few others. She said the update for the Touch has been pushed back. But it will include REV. A and GPS. She said the earliest it would be is June, but could be pushed back until August. But it is coming. |

though, aside from the extra processing power on the arm9 for the 7200, are the 7200+7500 both physically identical? i would be curious to find out. providing that chipset has enough volts going through it, we might be able to get away with overclocking the arm11 on the touch without fear of frying the radio processor (seeing as the same arm9 on the kaiser has double the frequency) In theory, wouldnt the arm11 be capable of close to 800mhz as the iphone has the same processor? edit: i was reading, the gpsOne GPS module can be very inaccurate by itself(more than 100m). does anyone know if tower triangulation would cost money thru the provider, or is it typically a free service? |
