Anyone know how to lock device with a hard key?
 

Is it possible to change the "Camera Button" (button 1) to lock the device? Either with a quick press or a press and hold? I've searched the forums for a while but I haven't come up with anything.

I made it so my "End" key is my lock button. You just have to hold it down for a few seconds. I don't remeber exactly how I did it. Now that I think about it....does it come like that stock?

When I hold down my end key, it plays a sound and turns off my reception. Then when I hold it down again it plays a sound and turns the cell reception back on. I don't understand the purpose of that, but I'm pretty sure that is stock.

EDIT: There is a "Long Press End Key" option under System Settings. By default it is Airplane mode, you can change it to lock, though. But still, anyone know how to get the camera button to do this?

Go to settings, system, long press end key and you can choose to lock your device from this setting.

you can also use progs like s2u2 and set it to lock on blank screen. then just tap the power button and viola.

Thank you for the warm welcome Musicman, I'm glad to be here! I figured I'd start out on the right foot since I know I can gain a lot from here as well.

I'm sure I'll have some questions as I go along since I just got my first PPC and graduating from a smartphone.

Unzip this in your \windows directory. Then you can assign a button to it in Settings -> Personal -> Buttons.

I snagged this out of one of the many custom roms. Works fine, I've got it assigned to my Button1 Press and hold.

Thanks rstoyguy, this sounds like what I'm looking for. However, I don't see a "Device Lock" as an option in the "Buttons". I extraced the contents of the .zip into \windows. Am I still missing something?

After researching a little bit...try moving the devicelock.lnk to
\windows\start menu\programs

Then verify the registry setting at:
HKLM\Software\MicroSoft\Shell\Keys\40c2
Default = "\windows\start menu\programs\devicelock.lnk" (string)

I'm thinking moving it to the above folder, that button app should find it. Those are my settings on my touch anyways...Hope this helps!
