I by no means offered this up to you but it was an old trick we played in retail.

If you have had the treo on your account less than 6 months ago (ins covers all phones 6 mo's after deactivation) put the phone in the microwave for 10 sec and then take it into the store. It will fry the internal radio but leave the phone unharmed everywhere else. The rep will see it searching for signal and give you a new one, maybe not on the spot as it may need to be ordered.

I take no responsibility for what you do with this knowledge and make no guarantees as to it working the way you want it to, but it used to work for me.

you can't be serious????? LOL

yes, that is fundamental to making this work. make sure you have both types of insurance, but it should fall under the repair part.

And yes, 10 sec might be too long 3-5 should do it. You can always hit it with more, but never less.
