Help! Power button suddenely not working...
 

So I have had a weird couple of weeks, which is why I am totally perplexed by the issue that is plaguing my Touch. It started about a week and a half ago when I decided to install a couple of apps, which I cannot even remember the names of anymore. That is because I injured my back very badly and ended up in the hospital for 5 days, on a lot of very heavy duty pain medication. I am talking about Dilaudid and other medications that make your mind like jello...

So anyway, my Touch will not wake up from sleep mode. I cannot use the power button (on the top of the Touch) to wake up my Touch. After I soft reset I can use the phone but after 3-4 minutes of non-use, it will go into sleep mode and I cannot get it back unless I do another soft reset.

When I get calls, my Touch will wake up for me to get the call. The screen does not come back on for text or email messages though. I have unistalled the last 5 apps on the Touch, to ensure that I removed the questionable ones before my inury, but I still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Ok, so I thought I would share with everyone here the solution to my problem. No I didn't drop my phone. No, I didn't play frisbee with it. Yes, the power button is definitely broken. I cannot get it out of standby mode without receiving a call or a soft reset.

So I called my friendly Sprint rep. and have a replacement being sent to me. A quick flash back to the original Sprint ROM on this one (so they don't receive a modded one from me) and I will be all good within a couple of days. But here is the catch....

My Sprint rep. told me that this is not the first time they have heard of this issue recently. Apparently there have been several Vogues sent back in the recent weeks for the power button failing to work.

Just an FYI to all of you out there, in case this happens to you as well.

I am having the SAME problem, but I am not sure that it is truly the power button...after a soft reset, the power button works fine ... as in, I can turn the power off and on...then if it goes to sleep, the power button seems to "not work"

Any other ideas on a solution. I hard reset my phone a few days ago and put stuff back on..nothing really crazy, then after a day of no new changes this problem starts....VERY annoying!!!

Okay, here is an update....after spending a couple hours playing with my settings and configurations, here is what I have figured out.

I had Slide 2 Unlock installed and it seemed to be running fine until today. I disabled it and the "power Button Issue" seemed to go away. So for the time being, I have totally uninstalled S2U. I really like the program, but since I removed it, my Touch is much faster and the Power Button works fine...

Just my thoughts....hope it helps somehow...

I installed Operamini 4 today, and if I leave it running the power button doesn't work if the Touch has been off for more than a few minutes.

Well, I thought that S2U was the issue...my touch werked great for about and hour and then the power button is not working again....

I am almost to a point of seeing how many times this will skip across the pond...

Does ANYONE have ANY ideas on how to ersolve this problem?

Your buttons er what they do are defined here:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\shell\keys\40c1 (Camera Button)
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\shell\keys\40c2 (Camera button press and hold)

Do you guys have anything else here after ~\keys\? a 75something?

I am not sure I undertand what the camera buttons have to do with the power....

This is where windows defines what the buttons do.

Playing around with a spb button remapping app, they do not mess with key "75" which is the top button because you can't remap that one.

This would be a place to look to see if a "program" has disabled your button.

Okay, so I go to the Sprint Store first thing this morning, and they Hard reset my phone and all seems to be working ... HA HA HA HA....then it happened to the tech. He thought it was my battery so he gave me a brand new fully charged battery....it happened again...

Then he tried to hook my phone up to a charger...would not charge...

Then he tried to hook it up to a computer to get a connection...still no go...

Bottom line....I will have a brand new Touch in 3 to 5 days....but for 3 to 5 days I can not turn my phone off...if I do...I have to reset it....PLUS, I can not sync.....

This really sucks!!!!
