Storage card gone!

Last night I decided I would try to connect my PC to my Vogue via bluetooth to make a couple registery changes with CeRegEditor. I had some issues getting ActiveSync to work via bluetooth, so I tried a bunch of different bluetooth settings, until I got the pairing to work. Then I went into HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\APLauncher3\App0 and changed teh link to the program and the 2 links to icons, as I was adding my first custom box on Polen's wonderful Vista Cube 2.0.

Anyway, I got it to work but now I just realized that my storage card isn't getting detected. When I go to File Explorer and use the drop down, it found My Device and Bluetooth. So I went to the bluetooth settings and unchecked the bluetooth explorer option, so now it just says My Device. So somehow I turned off the setting which allows my phone to see the microsd card.

I find it very hard to believe that it was something I messed up in the registery, because I literally only changed that one reg setting. I've tried taking out the card out/back in, soft resetting, but to no avail. Is there some setting somewhere I'm not thinking to check? Thanks for any help. :)

are u able to view the contents of your storage card if u plug it in to ur comp via sd card? because my 512 that came with the phone displays similar symptoms but its not even readable if i plug it it in to comp it ends up freezing "my computer" folder

There is a thread on here titled something like "who has not had issues with the HTC touch memory card. It seems like some of these ppc's screw up the memory card. It happens to me alot. Waiting for a new Touch to come in.
Try a program like GETDATABACK. It is a great tool and I have always been able to get my data back. I would be suprised at the reg changes doing that..but I am no expert. good luck.

Have you phisically checked that card didn't pop up a little? I know it's a fat chance because of the location but you never know. Also, have you tried other cards on the device?

The known issue with the Touch is that the contents of the card get corrupted, but I think this is the first time we've heard of it disappearing altogether.

Thanks for all the help guys! I was at work when I realized my phone wasn't recognizing the card, so I didn't have a chance to try the card on my PC, but I did find a coworker with a microSD card and it works just fine. :) So I guess that means I didn't do anything wrong with my phone, the card just must be corrupted. Which makes sense now that I see there is an ongoing problem with the Touch and corrupted cards.

Still a big coincidence that after I spend 2 hours fiddling with the bluetooth settings and registry for the first time my card becomes corrupt....

It was only the stock 512 with 2 songs on it so no big loss, this just forces me to buy the 2gb card which I've been meaning to do for a while now.

Well... the issue is that the data on the cards gets corrupted, but formatting the card makes it usuable again.

Bad card maybe?

well my card got corrupted again 2x in 2 weeks. It happened when i ran the youtube flashvideobundle. I went to check a file and notice i couldnt run my core player or flashvideo bundle right after. worked once and went to save a video and it was all done....time to reformat the card again(sigh). has to be something with saving video formats on the internet. or writing streaming data on the card.

My card got corrupted once and I have never used the flashvideobundle, don't recall having any apps writing streaming data on my card either :(

One thing that'll surely cause trouble is faulty terminal contact. I think that's why card terminal pads are made of gold. Apparently, inside the card slot that is so inconveniently burried deep within our Touch phones, there are contact points, presumably at the end of flexible and/or spring loaded fingers. If some crucial little bit of data fails to pass this touchy junction while you're writing to the card, well, you know what Windows does when it later tries to read something it doesn't understand, right?

Just had my 1st occurance of card corruption this morning. What an awful feeling! Then, I remembered that late last night, I switched out my 4gig card and inserted my 6gig in sort of dark lighting. So, first try was to remove and re-insert the card, cleaning those important contact pads with a clean dry cloth while at it. Guess what? Everything's fine again, but the perfect record I've enjoyed for 3 months now has a blemish. See previous thread... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...217#post172217
