Vista Keyboard
 

This was designed for the Sprint Touch only.

Here's my latest creation, The Vista Keyboard and Keypad.

As many of you know I like Vista icons and it's look, so little by little I've been redoing the graphics of my Sprint Touch to look more like Vista.

My latest conversion is the English version of the HTC Keyboard(20) and Keypad(12) skin. The buttons look like they came off the task bar of Vista and the icons are from Vista. The buttons have a nice 3D effect with an outer glow of blue. I modeled it after the Vista Dialer skin I created, so It looks like I'm creating a theme here.

All that I changed was the English version of the graphics, no modifications to the registry or programs. This install will replace 60 image files.

As always I made you a Cab file that can be uninstalled if you don't like it.

Using Paul's Redbox idea from mordaco.com I came up with a Vista Keyboard with a RedXT9 button. The VistaKeyboardRedXT9.zip is my full install with the RedXT9 button. If you already have my VistaKeyboard installed this install will remove it and add it back with the RedXT9 button.

great job, i'm too attached to my v2 touchpal to switch but i love the look, i'm waiting on you to come up with a vista style cube, i don't care for the other vista cube that's out there lol

Yeah, my Graphics skills are getting better, but before I redo my Vista Cube with these new techniques and graphics, I want to skin the Comm Manager, Camera, HTC Home and HTC Sprint Home first, then I'll probably give my current Vista Cube an update.

is a Vista skin for the Touch QWERTY keyboard in the works? (the keyboard that appears when entering user ID and password data)?

You know I have been using the default "Blueish Green" WM6 theme on my phone but if you keep this up I am going to have to switch to a black theme!

He might be referring to the other "more colorful" "Vista Cube" that someone else made.

I would like this as well since I am contemplating disabling the "SureType" keypad and going completely with the full Qwerty.

If your refering the 40 button one, then it's already in this install, I didn't put it in my Demo animation cause it is just a background and the keyboard program populates the characters on top of it, just like the Symbols keyboard.

I like the dark earth tones of the HTC Theme, it just needs a little spash of color here and there, with some 3D effects to lift it off the screen.:mrgreen:

RedBox for Vista Keyboard?
 

I love the Vista dialer and tried the Vista Keyboard, but it creates a problem because I use Modaco's RedBox to show me when I am in "abc" entry mode instead of "xt9" (which I despise). Any chance of a similar function with the cool Vista Keyboard?

@Polen - is there any way you can add an "enter" key on the 40-key keyboard?

I like this idea! I also hate XT9, it just doesn't make sence, but I'm old school so I like abc mode:)

It looks like Modaco made this for people that want XT9 so why don't we make all the XT9 buttons red like this instead of the abc button.

I can make this an add on, so it will be a seperate cab install from the original Vista Keyboard. Will this work okay for you guys and gals?

That is funny you say this, because I spent some time looking for the Enter key file to get the right file name to replace and I couldn't find it, then I brought up the 40 button keyboard and didn't see one. I got to thinking about why that was and then it came to me that this keyboard is for entering passwords and if you had an Enter key that would add the return character to your password which would be bad, so to keep people from doing that they removed it.

Nice find, Polen. I would prefer just the one XT9 key to be red, rather than the whole keyboard - that's enough to let me know and it's it's subtle. Too much red and we're in Verizon territory! Of course I am am quite happy with whatever you can put together...

Well, the dialer's buttons are ordered different, so no there, no need for the keyboard and the Vista Cube is skin for the Biotouch program that comes with the Sprint Touch. If someone ported the Sprint Touch Biotouch program over to the Mogul, then I would think it would work. The Cube program can eat up some memory when you have 6 sides full of icons.:(

i am soo Touch-envy.....been trying to get Sprint to swap out, but they want another $100!! lol Imay have to switch to At&T for the Tilt, which is what the Mogul should have been in the first place! .....but I digress.....

This looks great and I really want to give it a try. I downloaded the Vista keyboard with Red XT9 file, put the cab in my memory card, installed the program to main memory and res-started Unfortunately, I can't find it anywhere. Not in the list of input methods, not in the list of inputs in my SIP Changer program, not even a program file. I did a re-install that basically prompted me that it would un-install the "existing" program before proceeding with the re-install. Again, nothing found. What am I doing wrong here?

oh...never mind! Duh. This actually CHANGES the look and feel of the defalt keyboard and touch pad. Looks VERY nice. I was an idiot thinking that this would be a separate input on its own. LOL

is there any way that a vista calc can be created

I plan to look into it, but currently I haven't researched it so I'm not sure if it can be re skinned. I just need to take the time and search the web and forums to see how to do it. I would like to apply my buttons and effects to it too.

i installed the keyboard with the red x9 ... no matter which letter i press though.. it always puts out a display of a number... what gives... i am using the touchkeypad (20)

i hit the shift all three times and no matter what selection it is on it displays a number instead of the letter i am picking.. as if i am always in the 123 mode... is there another option somewhere that i have wrong... i cant get keyboard to outpulse a letter
