Not happy with Touchflo?

If you are not happy with Touchflo try this.... its just a registry tweak, but it has made me much happier with scrolling. Kinetic scrolling(finger flick scrolling) is still way to fast, but finger scrolling feels way more natural

HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings

Change DWord value for FingerPressure to 9000

This tweak is out there, but I haven't seen anyone mention this value

Let me know what you think... and as always tweak at your own risk

MrOuija36 12-20-2007 07:52 PM

oh my jesus ....

thank you man.. just fixed the only issue ive ever had with this thing

I have not found away to fix that issue yet. We need a real developer for that one.

maxqc 12-20-2007 11:10 PM

Is it better than using ftouchflo ?

I think so, but it is all a matter of opinion. The problem that I have with FTouchFlo is that it seems to have problem in the browser when there are images on the page. FTouchflo wants to jump to the top or bottom of the image, it doesn't scroll naturally in that senario and thats a big issue for me.

Now, this tweak does not solve the super fast kinetic scrolling problem that HTC TouchFlo has, but it does make finger scrolling feel much, much more natural.

Just try it and see if you like it. You can always go back to FTouchFlo if you think it sucks. Thats the beautiful thing about WM...you can tweak, untweak, and tweak again!

HKLM is "folder" in the registry .

you can use the cab file i made, it will set the FingerPressure to 9000.

360discgolf 12-22-2007 04:15 AM

I haven't seen much input on this tweak from other than MrOuija. Has anyone else tried it? What do you think? Personally, this is the most important change I have made to my Touch.

copper rs 12-22-2007 11:14 PM

maybe im dumb but what is the difference between kinetic scrolling and finger scrolling? how do i initiate one over the other. it seems no matter what i do it scrolls to the bottom of the screen

MrOuija36 12-22-2007 11:20 PM

finger scrolling is dragging the screen with your finger .. real slow and controlled

kinetic is flicking it and it scrolls fast then eventually slows down or stops when you press your finger

Koolaid 12-23-2007 05:58 AM

Worked really well, thanks for pointing that out, now I need to commit the scroll/ flick point to muscle memory

divxrippimp 12-23-2007 08:10 AM

Dude... This isnt a tweak or a hack... this is a fix to an annoying problem... For real dude, Thank you very much!

(BTW, for the tards, that means DO IT, it works really well...)

KoukiFC3S 12-23-2007 11:04 AM

i made this change and now you can finally scroll with your finger, like you are supposed to. Why on earth HTC would not have this set properly is beyond me. The reason I never knew about finger scrolling is because all my touch would do was rapid fire to the bottom of the page or select text. finger scrolling simply does not work with out this fix. THANKYOU!

You need a regisrty editor like PHM regedit, ect.

divxrippimp 12-24-2007 12:59 AM

This tweak is awesome, and makes scrolling work almost like screen drag if you want... But it makes it super hard to select multiple things... like files and such... luckly touch pal has a select items screen, woot touch pal!

hi-tech 12-24-2007 01:08 AM

thanx for this tip.

Hey thanks for adding the cab file to this post.

jsls 12-25-2007 12:02 AM

I really wish that it would work like scrolling does in Opera....I bought it for that reason alone....it should be system wide. *Ok I tried that reg edit and now Touchflo works like grab & drag in Opera...awesome! Thanks :)

360discgolf 12-26-2007 09:58 PM

Has anyone figured out how to hack the finger flick scrolling so its more usable? I actually think the flick scrolling works decent everwhere except for in PIE. That makes me wonder if we need to look at hacking PIE instead of TouchFlo. Hmmm

KoukiFC3S 12-26-2007 10:15 PM

If you change the registry setting it makes it really hard to select text for copy and paste.

Yes, I had to get used to it myself. Here's the key... Put your finger or stylis over the area you want to copy and wait .5sec...I usually wait for the select cirles to begin and then start selecting the text I need to copy. Works fine once you get used to it and it's worth it to have a more functional finger drag function.

Try your fingernail for selecting text or multiple files. That works for my PPC w/ the new reg.

Re: Not happy with Touchflo?

Is the 9000 value for dec or hex?

Re: Not happy with Touchflo?

This is from a pdaphone post:
I tried it at 9000 and liked it at first. Then I noticed I could no longer highlight several messages in my inbox so that I could delete or say mark as read etc...

I moved it back to the original setting of 4767 and now I can do that again. I am going to try the 6500 and see if that works.

Great reg edit though!

Edit: Just tried 6500 and still could not highlight messages. Moved down to 6000 still no go then tried 5500 and works like a charm! Hope this helps.

Re: Not happy with Touchflo?

haha.

lool
i find it very usable....but it takes gettin used to.
and yes. you HAVE to use your fingernail to select multiple items in any setting above 3300.
