Calendar/Tasks alternative that doesn't take over contacts

I'm looking for a program that manages the Calendar and Tasks but doesn't replace the default Contacts app.

For the Q, I used Papyrus and loved it, but its only for the smartphone, no PPC version.

I tried Pocket Informant and didn't really like it, plus it replaced my Contacts app.

Is there something out there like this?

I looked at AgendaOne and AgendaFusion and they both look like they replace the Contacts.

If you find one you like, you could always change the registry to point at the original Contacts app. That's what I did with Pocket Informant - I installed PI then changed the registry so that it still used the default Contacts app.

Where would that registry setting be?

For Windows as default CM (default):

[HKLM\software\microsoft\shell\rai\:MSCONTACTS]
"1" value = ":MSPOUTLOOK contacts"

Actually, I tried that and I get an error message now when I try to open my contacts. It says:

The file ':MSPOUTLOOK contacts' cannot be opened....

Figured it out, You don't need the quotes like the example

I do it with AgendaOne, after installation tell it you want or don't want it to replace the default calendar, contacts, etc. and then you can go into options and specify what you want it to take over.

Is the data for Pocket Informant backed up in Outlook like the stock Calendar app? So after a hard reset, you can still restore Calendar info and then Pocket Informant? Does Pocket Informant have an archiving/backup function?

I got the free Pocket Informant from the Friday Free Handango offer, and am debating on whether or not to install it on my Touch.

I use Pocket Informant with the touch default contacts as I like the slider feature. PI is a great program, everything backs up to outlook or your exchange server. Its really just a layer for the default contacts/calendar databases. It has so many more features I highly recommend it.
