So now that Sprint has confirmed GPS and EVDO Rev. A for Mogul...

Take alook at this link it is from the business site. I don't know why it is not on the consumer site. It states View your approximate location and use available applications to navigate roadways throughout the country. (will not be available until Q1 2008 upgrade)

Lets wait 'til that update arrives!

gps

I am concerned that they put it on the business site and not the comsumer like wILLk0r3 said we will see when updte is released. I also wonder if Sprint would pull something like for business customers only but I don't think they would develop two different roms.

Even if they only provide it to business users, there are enough of them that would be glad to share the ROM with us lowly regular consumers.

telenav

Yes i was thinking that also. Telenav has a software for the mogul and 6700 and it works on the touch also even thou it was designed for the mogul. check this link out

i will be disappointed if GPS is enabled and i can't use iGO/OnCourse Navigation software... time will tell. i took a similar risk when i purchased an HTC Trinity that included a disabled GPS radio. HTC released a ROM update that enabled the GPS chip and allowed owners to use products like iGo and TomTom....

Do the prospects for them updating the Touch seem better?

Sprint and HTC regret any inconvenience customers have recently experienced with the Mogul. HTC is working on a new version of the software ROM for the Mogul which incorporates enhancements for Bluetooth performance and corrects issues that were unintentionally created by ROM version 2.16.651.0 (posted on HTC’s website on October 24). Both Sprint and HTC have begun testing the new software and are targeting to make it available for download by the end of November. Once fully tested the download will be made available at: http://www.america.htc.com/support/m...downloads.html

As a short-term solution, customers who downloaded the ROM version 2.16 should download the previous ROM version 2.09.651.3 available at the link above. This will restore previous functionality to the device until a new version is complete.

Additionally, HTC is currently developing a separate ROM update which enables the EV-DO Rev. A and GPS capabilities that are already built into the Mogul hardware. Sprint and HTC plan to make this software ROM available in early 1Q 2008. We would also like to extend our thanks to those customers that have taken the time to identify and report these issues to us.

There is a link to the business site showing that the Touch will have GPS enabled in Q1 of 2008. I don't remember where the link is at the moment though...

Full GPS or A-GPS?
