Place the ring tone files in the Windows root directory instead of the Windows\Rings or My Documents\My Ringtones.

Remember to search this has been discussed a couple of times.

I'll leave this thread open until you confirm that worked.

Also rings for text messages and alerts needs to go in the Windows root directory as a midi or wav.

I think I have MP3s there, but I'd have to confirm.

CONFIRMED: I have an MP3 as my ringer for voicemail.

Do as said above and then go to Start - Settings - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications tab - and select it there.

sorry to be a pest but were can i find the windows directory root?

Pibe38 11-16-2007 02:33 PM

Ok... you need to copy the sound file and paste it in the \Windows directory. What I meant with root was that it was not on any subdirectory.

You can explore through Activesync or use the File Explorer on the device. If you use AS you will need to set Windows Explorer to display hidden and system files.
