Major Micro SD problem
I have a 4GB A Data Micro SD that I purchased from Newegg. I had been working fine until today when all of the files on it vanished. I tried to read it using the adapter in 2 different PC card readers, but it wasn't recognized at all (it wasn't the adapter at fault as that worked when I used the 512MB card that came with the phone).
I downloaded StorageTools to try to reformat the card, but it doesn't show any cards installed. In fact, the settings, memory, also shows no card installed. However, I can copy files to and from the card using ActiveSync and can run the programs from it. Obviously I am afraid to put everything back on it because there is clearly some essential problem since even the system's memory utility says no card is installed! BTW this is a Sprint Touch. Any thoughts as to how I should proceed? Thanks. |
Well, that is strange. The only part I can comment on is it not reading through the card reader on the PC because the reader might not support SDHC which is why it would read the 512mb but not the 4gb.
I would say to try it out again in the Touch but just to make sure to ActiveSync all important information just incase it might do it again, in that case ask NewEgg for an RMA. |
I started copying a bunch of stuff back onto the card and found it was filled way before it should have been (it was less than half full before and now it said it was full after only putting half that back on) -- clearly something is wrong. I know that StorageTools should be able to fix that, but it still can't see the card (nor can the system memory info).
I guess I need to contact Newegg. Any other thoughts? Thanks. |
