Internet via USB on xv6900?
 

I am new to all this PPC stuff, this is my first smart phone.
I have looked through countless threads to see if there is a solution to this, and i have not found any.

I am trying to get my HTC Vogue to connect to my internet connection via usb. I plug in my phone and sync it, go into the internet sharing setting and turn it on, then select USB but the Connect button is grayed out..

Is there any way i can connect this phone to my comp and allow it to share a connection from my cable modem?

I am on MetroPCS, using Windows Mobile 6.5. not sure how relevant that information is tho.

are you using windows mobile device center? Install that and click settings, then connection settings (in windows mobile device center, on your PC) make sure that you have selected that "this computer is connected to "the internet" and not "automatic"" see if that works for you.

Try this, Open internet sharing first click connect then plug in the USB. It may take a couple of times but it should work. If it times out or errors out try syncing then doing it again.

most carriers have disabled internet sharing per fcc. this is what i use.

The htc touch 6900 does not have wifi capabilities that I am aware of. He is talking about using his home connection to have internet on his phone not share his mobile connection to his pc.

With windows xp you need to have activesync installed windows vista and 7 u need windows mobile device center. there is an option to let the phone share the internet connection from the pc. When connected allow data connection on mobile device i think is what it is worded or something similar.

No matter what i do i cannot get the Connect soft key to light up, it just stays grayed out.

I am using WMDC, running WM6.5 on PPC and Windows 7 pro on my PC. I have it set to connect to the internet instead of automatic.

Just to clarify, are you trying to use your data connection on your phone to give your PC internet access or the other way around!?
I'm pretty sure Internet Sharing only works one way meaning sharing the data connection from your phone serving as a modem for your pc. :scratch:

Internet sharing can work both ways, without a data plan, I steal intranetz from my pc all the time. Billy, try going into your phone settings, then connections, then usb to pc and un-check "enable advanced network functionality". Sometimes this can fix it.

I am trying to get my PC connection to work on my phone, just to clarify.

madeiracam, inside the usb to pc section i only have 3 options..
1. ActiveSync
2. Disk Drive
3. Ask me first when i connect the device

Maybe this option is in another section?

Yeah, under activesync, do you have a sub check box that states " enable advanced networking"? That's where it should be...

Also when you connect your phone, does activesync on your pc recognize this and say "connected"?
