Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.03

Quote:

Android on WM devices is getting more and more popular, especially with the latest developments, and it's almost ready for daily use.
I wanted to have an app so we could easily boot into both WM & Android, and Gen.Y DualBOOT was the solution.
This release is made for VGA devices, and supports both booting from Internal Storage (moviNAND, e.g. Touch Diamond) & Storage Card (SDMemory, e.g. Touch Pro). WVGA version and QVGA version is also ready. This app has been tested on WM6.1, but will work perfectly on WM6.5.x as well.

Keep in mind that your android setup must be installed already at the root of your storage card in order for this app to work correctly
(e.g. \Internal Storage\haret.exe or \Storage Card\haret.exe respectively)

Gen.Y DualBOOT v1.03 (freeware)
Requirements: Pocket PC with WM 6.1 and above and QVGA, VGA, WVGA , Android Booter
Overview: Dual boot solution for Windows Mobile devices with XDANDROID. Easily boot into both WM & Android.

Changelog:

v1.03
- Added new registry key to allow booting from \Android\ folder on memory card
- Added checking for haret.exe before enabling the android boot option
> if the android button is disabled, u can re-enable it (after disabling usb mass storage mode, or inserting the sd card that contains the android setup) simply by pressing the disabled android icon
- QVGA layout fixed

There are 4 versions available:
* QVGA, boot from Storage Card (e.g. Vogue, Kaiser,..)
* VGA, boot from Internal Storage (e.g. Diamond)
* VGA, boot from Storage Card (e.g. Raphael)
* WVGA, boot from Storage Card (e.g. Blackstone, Topaz, Xperia,..)

Okay guys, was wondering if anyone has tried this? Seems really cool, one of the main reasons i want to check it out right now is because of google navigation and get a feel of android

I'm not sure where i'd find a copy of android, or if the android from the other thread will work..

XDA has a lot of flavors of android. You might want to check it out. They have a lot!

yes but a good question is if we can dual boot because while android does run well from nand the battery life sucks and it is not a solution yet

Yes, this does actually work.. And work well.. I am using this to dual boot between EnergyROMs latest and Android on my 16gb microsd card..

Here is the link for the dual boot:

And here is the thread of the most recent working Android that I am using:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=109147

Still has some bugs but it has come a long way.. I think it is fantastic that they have gotten it to work this far.. It works great so far and they are working to get more things working..

how does android run off your 16gb card?
I'm currently running android of a 4gb and i remember reading somewhere that a larger memory card would be faster...or i think it was a higher class card that would make it run faster...

a higher class would make it run faster, but even so i'm running off of a 8gb sdhc, with 2 ext2 partitions, which also makes it run faster :D

The battery life does suck, currently it's been 7 hours and my phone is at about 40%, on WM I could run 2-3 days(depending on usage) before it died...

I wouldn't mind carrying around a usb charger though since I have class and all...
