Windows 6.1 Roms

I know this question has been asked before, but I've done some searching and came up short on 6.1 roms. It seems like a lot of people have moved to 6.5. Don't get me wrong, 6.5 is NICE, just feel it hasn't hit the "sweet spot" yet. I had to take my phone in for some "repairs" and flashed the sprint stock rom. Haven't had a crash for ten days now. I just miss the stable device I once had LONG ago :(.

Any cookers still around or anyone know where to get some 6.1 roms?

Thanks

:)I'm with you! lol I customized my own 6.1 ROM. I think it is faster because it doesn't require as much memory to run. 6.5 is a memory hog in my opinion. The last chef I can remember cooking 6.1 was Whosdaman. Here is a link to his ROM thread where he has 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs:

Thx doc,
I'll give whosdaman's rom a try , if not guess I've got to go and cook my own. It's been awhile since I've done that (titan days).

Different strokes for different folks, and Vogue accomodates (except for those who wish to lug a physical QWERTY).

Just tried it, it's okay but just didn't work out too well. I even tried out some custom roms and those didn't come out how I expected. So I reverted back to the sprint stock rom. Took off the HTC home plugin and runs good enough for me. Using phonex dialer and it rocks btw :)

You could also try OMJ's roms. I found a couple of his 6.1 roms. :) I think this is the latest one:

Funny, I tried that one too as soon as I saw the post resurface. Probably the best one out all of them. The quickmenu is pretty nice.

On the topic of 6.1 roms, I recently noticed that HTC has done some website redesigning and dropped support for most of their "older" model phones such as the Touch/Vogue, Mogul, ATT Tilt aka TYTN II, Hermes. No big surprise there, but when I went to the Sprint website for the stock rom the link to the HTC website to download is no more?? Same goes for ATT Tilt. Can anyone else confirm this?

Confirmed, I went to their site as well to look for the stock rom for sprint and its not there anymore. I had to dig through my file server to find my copy. Guess the vogue is coming to its end O.o

For those who don't have copies of the old//new stock roms.

Just in case anyone needs it, I did a search for another user for the last stock revA rom and found it here and on xda so hopefully the stock roms won't completely disappear. :)

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

Well, I've managed to cook a ROM to my liking but not without a few problems. I'm using BUILD 21054 (6.1)

1# For some reason I do not get the dropdown menu for htc taskmanager on my today screen. I think its because there is a default task manager already pre installed. I couldn't find how to disable that one. Any ideas?

2# Is there a way to change the sound for when you hit the END key(the red one?) at the today screen? I notice a loud (piano key) sound. I use it a lot to end calls and get back to my today screen but it makes that annoying sound.

3# Is there a way to get the htc album 2.5 to play videos? I followed this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479095 (first post). I installed the fix cab but its not working so I know im missing one or all of dshow, mhub/vo and fps. Anyone know where I can get these?

Thanks

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

1. Do you know what the name of the task manager is that is installed? Maybe you could use an app like sktools or another uninstaller app that would allow you to uninstall that task manager. I know the one you are looking for in the upper right is the htc task manager. You could probably do a search of the registry using a reg editor like PHM that has a search/find function that you can search for the name of the task manager and then disable it there and then remove the files using file explorer or total commander.
2. Do you know if it only makes that sound when you press the end key or does it play the same sound when you push the buttons on the d-pad or camera? I know that on the stock rom all of those buttons play the same sound. I'm sure you could find those sounds in the registry and change or disable them. Probably the easiest way to disable all key sounds is to go to sounds and notifications and uncheck key sounds/taps or whatever it is called. The default sound on the stock rom I believe is called "type."
3. Not sure on this one. :???: I am curious so I am gonna try to find out.

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

For your third issue: Have you installed mHubVO as well as DirectShow 2.0 and FullScreenPlayer 1.5? It says on xda those are a must for that fix cab to work.

1. Just says Task Manager, it comes with the build. I'll check with sktool if I can find any trace of it.

2. It's just the send and end buttons and even with the sounds and notifications unchecked. It still makes the sound. Dont know if its a sound telling the user that the phone can't do anything else with the key but I havent heard this sound before.

I'll try and find the cabs for those. I had some trouble trying to figure out the names. lol

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

3 Attachment(s)
Ok, so I managed to fix two out of the three.

I got rid of the annoying piano sound when I hit the hard end button by disabling the beep sounds when dialing. (Phone/Tools/Options/Keypad: Off)

If you just want to remove that annoying beep when pressing end and keep the dial sounds then just remove the registry entry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\Ending

Camera videos and wmv's play in the htc album by installing the following in order.

1) FSP, DShow, WMP, YouTube, Video Fixes.cab
2) HTC_mHubVO.cab
3) HTC_VideoPatch.cab

The fix cab from that link doesn't work. This one does.

Now only thing I have left is the task manager icon issue. I've checked the installed programs with sktools and found no trace of it.

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

In sktools there is an option in settings within the installed programs part where you can have it show hidden apps or apps that don't normally appear in the list of installed programs. Change that to show all . Maybe it will show up then. I had to do this for it to show telenav when I wanted to uninstall it.

No dice I can't find a trace of it any where. Let me include some snaps for those just tuning in.

Missing the upper right drop down provided by HTC Task Manager.

The one circled is the default task manager that winmo installs. I went and cooked in the HTC Task Manager (one on the left).

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

Got it working! It was the HTC Task Manager I chose when cooking. I went through each of them and found one that the version 2_0_33547_1 worked with my build.

Anyone know where I can get the cab for the notification full screen manager? not the one from rhodium. But the one used in nfsfans roms? It's a full screen with each icon as a square.

Also GPS seems to be slow slower than in 6.5. I'm not getting locks as fast as I use to. It's like the signal has dropped. Only have GPSViewer and google maps cooked into my rom. Any ideas?

Thanks again.

I would PM nfsfan and ask him about the notification full screen manager cab. I don't think I have seen that before. If you do get it I might be interested in trying it. You've got me curious. ;)

Re: Windows 6.1 Roms

Apparently its built into touchflo as a feature. A lot of people seem to not like it lol. I thought it was decent.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410005

Going to try and cook touchflo into my rom and see what happens.

As for the gps..takes a little longer to get a position but nothing I can't live with.
