Notes:

Because I see this question quite a bit...check out this for the difference between aGPS and GPS.

GPS on phones and other devices is not something that just automatically works. Even with your GPS enabled, it will take it longer the first time it connects, as it needs to "download" the almanac from GPS satellites. This is why aGPS (assisted GPS) is faster. aGPS connects to the internet in order to speed the process of getting the almanac and figures out the current positions of satellites.

You got a thanks,
This is really helpful.
When I get my faq "ported" to ppcgeeks, :D
I'll be sending people here for the links you have aswell.

I have all the dcd cabs on my rapid account if you'd like links to them,
they're in my faq, link is in my signature.

Thanks cody. I started copying some of your links over here, and also posted a link to your forum/FAQ.

Re: HTC Touch (aka Vogue, xv6900) Links!

Sweetness.
I'll have to do the same when I get a chance here.

I'll let you know when I get it over to ppcgeeks as it will be labelled as a general qvga 6.5 faq then. I just haven't gotten around to labelling what's nfsfan rom specific, which is basically just the themes that mod the titanium files as those overwrite the existing cprs.
If you need anything mirrored on my rapid account,
just send me a link to the download and I can mirror it for you.

Will do codybear.

Remember, to those that have used this site, if you find yourself searching for something, please post a reply here and send me a link so that I can update this thread! I've seen this post getting a few hits and as long as people keep the information coming I can make it a great spot for newcomers to look if they need something that they may have seen once in a forum post..long ago....

I haven't got much feedback yet...and I know this isn't perfect, anyone got some suggestions or additional links to add?

I also included a link to a browser I like to use, so optional software links are welcome as well. (preferably free)

Where you list the new stuff on the first page would you be able to post a thread where they came from so there is a little info on it. (I'm wondering about nuespinlockpatched Sprint 21728 Vogue ROM )

I do find these threads helpful and I don't mean to sound rude (Codybear) by to me I think less is more. When you have soo many different things to post it can start to look cluttered and become difficult to find things. I do appreciate what you and Cody are trying to doo.

Haha, it's no big deal.
I just am trying to make it kind of a one stop shop for all of the "noobs" to go to. I hope to list everything that's inlcuded in each section in the table of contents,
but I've got more to add, so I'll be waiting for a lil while longer to do that.

Do you want the OEM to build your own rom?
If so I can do that, I only have the OEM.
But I'm not sure about the process to make a cab from an OEM.

@Duradil:
The *611 thing is for Alltel Customer Service too.
I think it's kind of the standard, but not quite sure.

I just want to say I appreciate everything duradil and cody are doing. It is a great way to get the information you need if you are thinking of flashing a custom rom. I know if it wasn't for cody's FAQ's I wouldn't have attempted to flash. His one stop shop makes it really convenient to noobs like me.

Re: HTC Touch (aka Vogue, xv6900) Links!

My intent is to post links with brief descriptions for people to be able to grab what they need. I've got links to different FAQs and forums for people to get info, and I've got links to general items which are likely some of the most searched for.

As long as organization is kept..the list can continue to grow..and outdated items will be removed as it happens.

Re: HTC Touch (aka Vogue, xv6900) Links!

Okay so Im almost through all this and have few questions. Im on VZW and flashed the sprint rom with radio then went up to the latest VZ Rom with 3.37.78 Radio then flashed the custom NFSFAN 6.1 Rom. Didnt let any customizations run except on the custom ROM, and so far so good. Only questions I have are from lack of experience with this method of getting gps to work.

I am able to get a gps lock however both google maps and Garmin have to be set to com port 4 and baud 4800. This is very diffrent from before as I would just set everything to Managed by Windows.... Is this the way it should be?

Secondly I tend to only get a lock on about 4 sats and it take almost 5 min to start picking them up. Is this normal? In Google Maps when it says searching for satalites it reads a bunch of random numbers until I get a gps lock.

As stated the only thing I have done so far is flash the roms in the order described. I havent done any QPST edits or used any carrier cabs only because Im not sure if it was nessicary since GPS works just kinda poorly.

Will carrier cabs effect authenticating the phone? I really dont want to do that again.

Any help is would be great!
Thanks!

You're doing an excellent job at it.
I personally have to reorganize my faq.
I started to throw things in it, and its kinda one bit clusterf*ck now. :D
I hope to do that at the end of the weekend though once I add more stuff.
But keep at it Duradil, This is an excellent addition to the forum.

YEah, that carrier cab was takin from my faq,
which was taken from dcd's website. (Thanks DCD!)
and what carrier cabs do is installs the info needed
to get data, sms, calls, gps to work.
(If they are already working in the custom rom you're using,
there's no need to install them)
*They do not restore your phone to a stock rom*

The drivers allow your computer to see your phone properly when in diagnostics mode.

QPST is the software used to update your phones internal configuration - mostly used with the aGPS fix.

On a second note, sorry I've been super busy at work, and will likely remain that way for another month or so. I'll try to update the links I have when I get a chance.

/bump. I haven't seen much for other carriers on this website, if anyone actually posts links in this forum I'll add them to the front page.

Hopefully all can still make use of this and again sorry for not updating regularly. Work has been kicking my *** the last couple of weeks.

Some of the build links are old, but here's a bump for newcomers looking for other information regarding the FAQs and GPS info.
