also, everyone is saying they're using VZ Navigator on their xv6900 - I tried calling up Verizon and they (and their website) say that it won't work on that phone . . .

Hmm thats weird. But ya Im pretty sure you can downgrade back to 3.37. Not sure so make sure you read up some more. As long as the Radio is still A-GPS then you can but if you downgrade to a non gps radio then youre screwed. I think.

keeping the sd card out of the phone is KEY - after alllll the things i tried, i went back to http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?t...IX_VERIZON_GPS and ran through it without the SD card in . . . flashed NFSFAN's windows 6.5 v5 ROM, fired up GPS Viewer and for the first time in AGES saw the red satellite dots . . . a few soft resets later and I'm getting 6-7 sats locked on from inside my work! :D :D :D

Well ya, you should take the SD card out anyways, I heard it can have everything deleted if its in while your phone is being flashed. :disgust:

Has anyone had experience with this version. Or is it the same version VZW has on there site. Also, i don't recall a customization part of the upgrade. Did i miss it?????

Seriously? You have to have the SD card out when you flash in order for it to work right? I've flashed my phone about 8 times trying to get the freakin GPS to work (each time with the SD card in).... Time to give this a shot and see if it works.

Re: Verizon Vogue Rom and Radio Upgrade Guide

Ok, I'm reading the forums and I'm wondering about what to do next to try flashing my HTC Touch with a new cooked ROM. I have a phone from CellCom in NE Wisconsin. They don't have the GPS enabled in it. I want to use it with Google maps. HTC says the chip is there, and I just need a ROM that enables it. The purchasing group CellCom purchased the phone from says "We're working on a new ROM." and when I ask CellCom about a ROM with GPS they say, "Huh?", or "a what?" so they're no help.

So what I have read so far is that I can build a ROM with the correct radio in it and other settings so that the GPS is available to software. (Yes I also understand that it probably won't be aGPS because CellCom doesn't have that yet... unless they're using some other carrier's network in the area... hmmmm)

And I also read that I can back up everything and also extract the existing ROMs, software and customization from the phone. (I would love to have a -COMPLETE- backup of the whole thing before I start...) And that there was someone who might be willing to help me extract the CellCom configs just to add it to their files.

So... first I need to find out who that someone was to see if that offer mentioned in a thread is still open.

Then I need to find out everything I can about the existing config, and if anyone else on CellCom has tried this and maybe has the ROMs I need. Then... if I cannot find the ROMs I need I need to find out if a different ROM will work and what I'll need to tweek it for CellCom's system.

SO... any advice... anyone??

Sorry for the long message, and sorry for tacking this on to the end of this thread, but it seemed like a good place to start.

Thanks! dh
