REQ: Recommended tweaks, add ons for TOUCH

1 Attachment(s)
Hi,

now that BELL has finally come up with their official rom, i'm sure everyone ,(from BELL) who has been eager like me to to get those upgrades coming from an official source and avoid messing up with other custom ROMs,
will do the upgrades....

However, after reading soo many good things about other chef's rom , features, tweaks they have been adding on top of the RevA and Radio Upgrades .. I'd like to know if it is possible to add those features separately without messing with kitchen tools or what not...
Basically, I'm interested in :
1. the 1% Battery Fix (Check the Attached files)
2. USB2PC (anyone know how to install this and uninstall it in case?)
3. Better Keyboard and Apps that apparently the Diamond is using
4. No data Tweak http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket...-free-utility/
4. any other tweaks that can be applied to make it faster?

Thanks all

well I'm not so sure now...
as you say there's a lot of goodies in the custom ROM's..

but this is not too grave, they can be installed separately

for me the decisive issues will be:

- whether the official BELL ROM still has that annoying (and omnipresent in the custom ROMs) problem when GPS eventually dies, requiring a soft-reset

- whether Bell is going to do something nasty to charge for GPS use...

P.S. I bet it is going to be a very useful thread

let us not forget it... :)

so far, even as I read the forum, Bell's new ROM seems to be the best,
but one will not want to lose all the goodies of custom ROMs...

btw does anyone know where to get

- usb2pc program (installable, in a cab)
(Or I recall, there is an even better alternative in "nuetools")

and

- that nice QWERTY keyboard from HTC Diamond ?
(preferably, the black one)

I've read about two recent ports (original and "gullum"'s) of the diamond keyboard to touch,
and people compalined that it is buggy and slow..

what is the best QWERTY keyboard that people use nowadays on Touch..

I see tjhat it is not a cab, but rather an extract from a ROM, that
should be
copied manually..

but where to?

\windows? or it does not matter? or some other install tweaks are necessary?

My favorite full screen is PCM Keyboard. However, after using it for a while, I tried the free TouchPal Keyboard and I love it - I don't even use the full qwerty, I just type one handed, it's just as fast.

be careful with that usbtopc. I didnt care for it and now it won't uninstall completely and activesync isnt working

Re: REQ: Recommended tweaks, add ons for TOUCH

Anyone know how to completely uninstall usb2pc? I still can't get activesync to work correctly. At best it just gets stuck synchronizing. I've tried turning advanced usb settings off/on and no luck

Hi,

My over all suggestion would be to go with NFSFan's NO THEME ROM for bell.

He is Canadian and he constantly updates and addresses any issues. Just post if you run into an issue with his rom on the thread, we will work it out.

He does not bloat his roms at all.

What you do is take NFS's as a base and add the themes and addon applications you want. Make it how you want.

This is my suggestion....

GET A LIST OF THE BEST PPC apps and or shell replacements. PPC Kitchen roms are slower. NFSRoms by far has best performance out of the bunch. Anyhoo thats my advice

I find that hard to believe. They should all be similar, if configurred similarly.

Yes I agree TouchPal is the end best QWERTY keyboard out there. I used to use PCM until the current version of TouchPal, now I wont even load PCM again.

which one?
the one that comes from diamond
or the one from "no2chem"
(both are referenced in page 1)?

I've installed it (the diamond one),
so far it works seamlessly, but I've not attempted the uninstallation :)

I tried both PCM and Touchpal,
and the one from Diamond seems to be the best for me..
Unfortunately it does slow the phone, it has ugly colouring,
and it overwrites the blackish HTC lkeypad and HTC keyboard that are originally in the ROM, and that are sort of nice..

maybe if anyone knows, there is a variant of the Diamond
keyboard with QWERTY layout only (not the other two),
and that is fast and black ( seems to much for a wish :) )
