Re: Verizon XV6900 with fast GPS lock *SOLUTION*

I tested this hack on the Ghetto 721 ROM and couldn't get a lock at all. Flashed back to the old OMJ Verizon 3.02 ROM, applied the hack and have been locking on within 30 seconds or less every time so far with WLS, Google, and Garmin. Guess OMJ's old ROM just might be the perfect ROM for the GPS on my phone right now with that hack.

Since I did get it working but found the original post incomplete I would head over to the original thread for better info: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32703

If you're still reading this thread, you HAVE to try this. The solution in this thread is only part of the fix. The solution below IS the difinitive fix, not a placebo. Verizon aGPS servers are used. Amazing. Took 10 minutes, got 8 satellites in my office on a rainy day, LOCKED.

Re: Verizon XV6900 with fast GPS lock *SOLUTION*

hi guys,
I'm using OMJ new rom and I love it! every thing working good sofar for me. the GPS lock under 20 sec. I wan tto try the Verizon fix but I can't dail ##3424. no problem! They have a another way to make it run, but I have resco explorer and I did find \Windows\DmRouter.exe but I can’t run the command line. How can I do this with Resco ?

Quote:

Put the phone in DMR Mode by dialing ##3424 and pressing send. If you're having problems using the ## codes you can
directly execute "\Windows\DmRouter.exe /DIAG" with any program that lets you run command line arguments. ActiveSync will disconnect, and the PC should recognize the phone as an HTC USB Modem and will install the drivers.

I don't think it's necessary to read that whole thread. It will ultimately get the Verizon GPS working but.. the three added files don't do anything and all that's really necessary is to ...

- turn on "Location Setting" in Settings/Personal/Phone/Services

- in Settings/System/External_GPS/Programs, set GPS Program Port to "COM4"

- in Settings/System/External_GPS/Hardware, set GPS Hardware Port to "None", and Baud Rate to 4800.

- in Settings/System/External_GPS/Access, check "Manage GPS automatically"

- have these decimal registry entries.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS]
"EnablePDEIPFromNV"=dword:00000001
"ServerIP"="66.174.95.132"
"ServerPort"=dword:8888
"EnableGPSSmartMode"=dword:00000001
"QosPerformance"=dword:00000089
"QoSAccuracy"=dword:00000050
"TimeBetweenFixes"=dword:00000001
"NumberFixes"=dword:99999999
"GPSMode"=dword:00000002
"EnableAGPS"=dword:00000001

Then if you want super-fast and accurate GPS, run the QPST tool as descibed in http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix. and then re-check the registry entries above.

GPS should work after this. If it doesn't, I'll buy your phone... at a price to be negotiated. After all, it's got a cracked case and the GPS is busted. :mrgreen:

You're in the right place. I used the task manager to run DmR with the /DIAG switch. The window that comes up is just white with the Tx Rx etc. like you're saying.

The Wiki actually has a cab that makes all those registry changes for you. Pretty Sweet!
