Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

EDIT:: How many of you who are getting piss poor speed test results have previously used the Titan 3.35.04 radio?

Please update your post stating whether or not you have used the radio. -Dan

I thought I would create a new thread for speed tests using the new Official ROM. I tested both Rev A Enabled and Disabled using ##778#.

Here are my Results: (this test was performed with the internet speed hack here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=124)

Rev A. Enabled:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/288671818.png

Rev A. Disabled:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/288669792.png

You see my test results were unsatisfactory with Rev. A both enabled and disabled.

Please test your data speeds and if possible, test both Rev. A Enabled and Disabled so we can judge what setting actually activates Rev. A.
Please Post in this format:

Enabled - (test result)
Disabled - (test result)

Please tether and use www.speedtest.net if you can. Here is a thread with instructions on how to enable tethering so you can use speedtest.net: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30265

If you aren't willing to do all of that work, then run a www.mobilespeedtest.com test from your device. Note: this will not prove Rev A as it will not give you your upload speed so truthfully speaking, it is a waste of time in regards to testing for this thread.

Please vote ONLY after you have tested and posted your Speed Test Results. Thanks!!

Dan.

EDIT::: I am getting a brand new Sprint Touch in a few days and will be updating all of my results once I get my new device.

I am going to be testing the Factory Shipped Stock ROM and also the new Rev. A/GPS shipped Official ROM.

The Rev. A/GPS ROM will have both Rev. A "Enabled" and "Disabled" results posted. The Stock ROM will not as Rev. A is not available on that ROM.

Stay tuned for the update folks, probably coming next week some time.

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

Just completely re-flashed the whole ROM. The only thing installed is Resco Explorer and Registry.

Here are my results:

Enabled:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/288689772.png

Disabled:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/288691217.png

All 4 speed tests I did came back with almost the same results. I have no idea what this means... I don't even think I have Rev. A to be honest with you folks.

i used mobilspeedtest.com and it's significantly slower than my last JD ROM...more than 200% drop, from 750+ down to 200+ (disabled)

enabled around 700...

Question, how to get speedtest.net working with your mobile? are you using PC to do this speedtest? Could you provide the plug in? Thanks

I don't think you have Rev. A either. My understanding is that you should have at least 200 kb/sec upload speed to confirm that you have Rev. A enabled.

I've tried speedtesting in several different locations and my speeds officially suck. I haven't bothered to try enabling/disabling REV A. yet, but I don't think that it's going to solve the overall suckiness of my speeds.

I have a stupid question: Whats the default setting?

Should I go to the trouble of tracking down my MSL, or assume its set to "enabled"? I'm using the official 6.1 ROM

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

Slightly off topic here but still relevant I think:

How many of you who are reporting piss poor speed tests using the new Official ROM have used the Titan 3.35.04 radio before?

I believe the poor speed test results are related to the Titan radio because I know I have installed the radio on ALL 3 Touchs that I've had and all 3 times I have had great results at first but slowly deteriorate to nothing.

I will be receiving a BRAND NEW Sprint Touch in the next few days. This time I am NOT going to install the Titan radio and will be experimenting with Speedtest.net both before and after the Official ROM update. I will update my first post with all new results once I have done this.

It will be set to Enabled by default after flashing to this ROM. I just wanna see both Enabled and Disabled results to get a clear well-defined answer to this long standing question.

I got the same speeds with rom defaults. What is pie, en/dis?

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

Just tested and got 804 kbit/sec for a 1MB file on dslreports. It was much slower earlier today, nearly 250 kbit/sec to about 517 kbit/sec. It seems slower than the "Almost Sprint Rom 6.1" that was loaded previously. Is there something I need to do to bring back the faster data speeds?

Thanks,

GP

A pie is a baked food, with a baked shell usually made of pastry dough that covers or completely contains a filling of fruit, meat, fish, vegetables, cheeses, creams, chocolate, custards, nuts, or other sweet or savoury ingredients. ...

Seriously though...
PIE= Pocket Internet Explorer
en/dis = the user was refering to enabling and disabling the rev a and testing each setting.

Official Rom Radio, JD Hybrid Rom. From the exact same location I was getting 600's down and 300 up use the leaked radio and JD's rom.

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

Wow... Rev A for yall must suck in your area. I get an average of 830kbps on Rev 0 and have peaked at 960kbps. Will upgrade tonight and post results. For a more accurate mobile test goto dslreports.com and do the ajax mobile speedtest (iphone one).

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

Here are some speeds I was seeing from the exact same location (The Kitchen Table!);

Radio from Offical Rom running JD's Hybrid Rom
Rev A enabled; 1038 up 454 down

Radio from Official Rom running JD's Hybrid Rom
Rev A disabled; 479 down 153 up

Radio from Leaked Rom running JD's Hybrid Rom
Rev A enabled; 635 down 363 up

Radio from Leaked Rom running JD's Hybrid Rom
Rev A disabled; 472 down 227 up

Some places I have gone to the leaked radio has gotten 2500 down and 600 up (from memory). I have not gone back to that location to see what the new radio gets.

I like the new radio, I seem to have better through put with Bluetooth and my data seems to be doing better but I think the actual sensitivity of this radio is not as good because in fringe areas the other radio seemed to hold a call a little better. But that can change with weather so I'm not sure yet. Gps performance seems about the same as I was getting before.

My phone has had the titan radio on it for a about a week, the Alltel radio for a couple of weeks and the Leaked radio since the day the leaked rom came out except for one day when I rolled back to the titan rom to try something.

Re: Official ROM Speed Tests. Post results here

I just upgraded to the new Official release and then to OMJ's custom based on it and with either one I get maybe 100kbs. One test caught it at 33kbs. I'm in a Rev.A area and I used to get fairly good speeds. I don't know how to enable Rev.A if it isn't already because all people do is explain it in a way that assumes you know what everything does, is, and where to find it already.

I think its a location thing. I know I personally can't get more than 500kbps at home but at the bank I get almost 900kbps using mobilespeedtest.com in the car.

check out mine in my sig... i consider those speeds to be pretty good given the '850' mile distance the signal had to travel.

Download the Sprint RC1 from my thread. You will be satisfied. Only Sprint Music doesn't work. I have to fix it.
