So is it recommended to install BuildOS.msi to cook in your own kitchen? Or can we just install it and have it work out of the box?

You can use the .rar file in the first thread to update your phone without using the kitchen... extract and run the .exe (after backing up your phone and understanding the risks of flashing of course).

Or use the kitchen to customize your installation.

It's pretty simple if you want a custom rom install buildos.msi and make your own kitchen. If you're not comfortable with this then use the Sprint leaked rom, copy that dll in the first post to your windows folder and be done with it. Option 3 is to wait for a chef you like to release a new version of his rom using this kitchen.

But all these customizations can be done after the fact as well right? The OP also mentioned to run the unlocker and install a newer radio as well. Isn't the newer radio integrated with this leaked ROM?

The Rom Yes the kitchen No. So you need to install the rom. If you want to install the kitchen or any custom rom you will need the unlocker. Otherwise if you dont' want to deal with unlocking install the leaked sprint rom and leave it at that.

It seems like the download on the first page is just the regular sprint release. I was looking for one that a chef has cooked up and fixed all the bugs and added most commonly used programs like hhc home customizer, a nav software, total commander etc etc. Thanks

The base kitchen is available through the updater (based off this rom). You can download the buildOS installer and build one from scratch with anything you want or don't want.

Installation instructions.

But if you want to upgrade the radio, you run the .exe posted in the first post first? That's what a couple of folks have said. (I'm at work so I've not been able to download anything yet). And if that's the case, and you're a non-Sprint Vogue, you just soft reset before the customizations run, correct?

I've used the Kitchen for the first time and made my selections based on Mindfrost82's selections. (I added Ms. Pacman) Here are my speeds:

I also fired up Garmin-XT right after installation and it worked rightout of the box with no changes to drivers or settings. Very promising so far. Just not getting REV A. speeds.

One Newbie question: How do I save the new ROM to an executable file?

I downloaded buildos and installed it. But when i try to run it i get an error 0xc0000135, application failed to intialize properly. Any ideas? Im going to reinstall and see if that helps.
