But now, I ask...how do I know if I did the OEM correctly? I am using my PDAnet cab as a test and comparing it to your PDAnet OEM which is verified to work. They are identical, but for some reason my OEM doesn't have anything in the .rgu file, and yours does. Also I just tried doing it with another cab, and the .rgu files is blank on that OEM as well. Everything else appears to be ok though. hmm....

Pdanet.cab does have registry entries. When it opens up the cab analyzer, you can click on the "registry keys" tab and see the single registry entry. This should be in the rgu file. I have uploaded the oem generator and all the parts that I use to the ftp. Here is a link to my directory OEM Package Creator2.zip

yeah that's the exact package ive been using. For some reason it just wont put the registry entries in the RGU file! It generates a DSM and RGU file in the finished OEM, but the RGU file is empty! (except for REGEDIT4 on the first line)

Make sure you have the two options checked in the bottom LEFT, and on the right side select ENG. I was able to duplicate those errors with that. If not, delete your copy and unzip the downloaded one, all the options are saved correctly in that archive...

When you complete package, you should get a little box that says "imported .reg into rgu".

i just opened that thing up and it seems much more complex than OEMizer i have made some succesful OEMs with it but this looks as though it has more options than OEMizer.

I'm haven't tried the OEMizer yet for making OEM's. This one is easy once you get the sequence of what to click on. The only problem I've seen with this one is how it translates certain strings like:
"Open"="phmregedit.exe %1"
You have to go into to edit it. This one is more advanced, it lets you look into the cab and see the file structure, regedits, and more information when converting the more complicated cabs. I'll have to play with oemizer someday. But being an old ms-dos guy, I like doing things the older-harder-moreoptions way! :)

I don't know why this seems to be so problematic for me lol. I think I got everything to work ok...but for some reason, everytime I extract the cab and X out of that window, I get an "exception" error message and click continue, and the package won't show so I have to reload the program then open the package to finish it.

EDIT: Just kidding, I still am getting blank .RGU files. I have done everything right, followed your instructions and the ones w/ the package. Very confused! The reg settings ARE in an XML I exported with the tools, but still not in the .rgu.

When you hit the 7th icon, extract files, you know it will puke if you change the directory, you have to let it pick the directory. That is all I can think of. And if your still having troubles, have you downloaded the one I have a link to above? You may have to track down ervius aceszhigh, or be forever a slave to the kitchen :)

Or send me your laptop! :twisted::drunken::twisted:

FINALLY I figured it out! I hadn't realized that all my CABS are NOT stored on my C: drive and for whatever reason, that is what caused all these problems. Everything works perfectly now that I moved the CABS to C:\ Thanks for your help.
