Well....here is what I see...
It's an old_man_jenkins base that has several OEM's from the new DIAMOND rom installed, and several ppcgeeks_oem.rar OEM's also installed. If you are having trouble with just the camera, delete "..\SYS\HTC Vogue Camera_5_07_30568_00" and search for a replacement camera OEM.

I ran into the same today, tried to slide in the Diamonds camera into my rom. In the process I deleted all the files out of ..\OEM\OEMAPPS that make the camera go. For me, I clean out the recycle bin when doing something like that so if it doesn't work, i can get the original files back...

Look for a replacement camera or ask in the ppckitchen thread why that version won't work, or look for tweaks to make it work.

I did try that already (delete out of SYS and add to OEM - I used the OEM from the PPCKitchen)... same thing. I'm going to try again now just in case I goofed on something.

What I don't understand is if (assuming) the ROM is deconstructed properly and had no changes, then rebuilt... why wouldn't it work? Confusing to me.

Ok, so I tried again... same result. What I did notice is that I do get security warnings (unknown publisher) alot with my cooked ROM. I don't remember seeing that with the original.

So, to make sure I understand, you did:

1. flashed rom, it worked.
2. took same rom, prepit.bat, buildos.exe, buildit.bat
3. flashed that same rom, no mods

and the camera stopped?

That's unusual if you didn't make any changes and it booted up fine...

100% Correct. I'm thinking this has something to do with the registry. When I try to take default.hv into the Hv Tools... convert to .txt... (make no changes)... and then back to .hv it fails. It's the first time using the hive tools so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if I'm onto why it's not working. Could some of the registry entries be getting lost in the decompile somehow?

.hv reconstruction error:
Failed to parse value name HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\Shared!!!
InitRegistry FAILED in file ".\boot.rgu" within a few lines of line 11170.

... again, i made no changes to the entries. I just converted to text... added REGEDIT4 to the first line... saved as Unicode. Then tried to convert the .txt back to .hv.

If you want to do the same with the v1.05 rom (decompile, recompile) i'll be willing to flash it to see if it's just me somehow. I don't see the certificate security errors in the original ROM, so I'm thinking this could really be a certificate issue. I was looking at the registry entries for the security policy which is why i got into the hive tools.

There should be no need to mess with the registry. Buildos.exe builds the registry for you. If you want to add any registry settings, add them to an OEM then drop them into your kitchens OEM directory. You can use the OEM from my Adding personal files and other stuff tutorial. Add your registry entries into the oem's RGU file. I wouldn't edit the hv files directly.

I could do up another tutorial on "adding your custom registry settings to a rom". If there is any interest....

edit: and it is probably hanging on a binary value with an odd number of values. if you add the oem and add your entries to it, it will get past that problem, with no issues...

I was only in the registry stuff to try and diagnose the camera issue... either way I think that would be a great addition to your current tutorials!

Re: How to Customize a Custom Rom: Adding/Removing Programs

I want to take NFSFAN's rom and update SqlCeMobile to SqlCeMobile35. This OEM is found in the vougue_WM6.1.rar\SYS not OEM. so what I did was replace SqlCeMobile with SqlCeMobile35 in the SYS folder under Kitchen. That was not in the instructions. I read that SqlCeMobile35 was needed to run skype. that is the only problem I had with NFSFAN's rom. I have a new nbh file, but being a n00b at this I am a bit paranoid about flashing it.

Has anyone tried something similair?

You have to use the kitchen whose link is provided in the first post. Anyways, When you decompile a rom, the components the chef added will be in ..\SYS. So, if you delete ..\SYS\SqlCeMobile, when you replace it, you will add the new SqlCeMobile35 into the ..\OEM directory. I'm not sure where your getting vougue_WM6.1.rar\SYS from...

Add --> ..\OEM directory.
Remove --> ..\SYS directory. :)

I got vougue_WM6.1.rar\SYS from ppc kitchen. The reason that I thought I could add it directly to the sys folder is because it was not in the OEM rar. and the format of the files in the OEM rar seemed a bit different.

Doesn't really matter I'm not going to mod this rom anymore, but I would like to get a better understanding of what is happening in the proccess.
