Hey nice bonus I found, the Sprint Music Store now is able to read micro sd cards that are more than 2gbs.

I'm not getting very good speeds at all with this ROM.

Something isn't right. I've reinstalled, then hard reset. I just can't get any speed at all. We are haing lots of bad weather here in St. Louis, but I doubt that is it. Any suggestions?

Mixed results. Please post more to help us decide if we should wait for the bugs to be worked out. OMJ, Your original REV A/GPS Rom is working good so far, Thanks for all your work! My my battery life does seem way down from stock though. May be time to get that extended battery.

Any guide i could read ? I've read a couple but nothing yet so far.

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

I tried OMJ's new ROM with the 3.35 radio and I get less GPS signal than I did with Ghetto's v700. I know it would reset the ROM so I backed it up on Sprite.
What is the best radio to use with this ROM? Are the radio's available on their own, without a ROM?
What is the best way to install it?

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

Hey diggs_r, I don't think there has been any confirmation of which radio is better (3.35 vs 3.37.15 from the leaked) but someone pointed out earlier that it might be best to use the radio that was meant for the touch. I had 3.35 on there before when I thought it would make the gps work and I installed omjs rom and everything worked (although I couldn't really test the gps out).

But I wanted to use the most updated radio so I flashed the leaked rom. Because its a sprint rom, you need to reset your touch before the customizations step.--> after you flash the leaked rom and you've done the calibration step (where you click on the screen a few times) a message will come up saying that "your device will be customized in 3 seconds" or something like that. You want to soft reset your touch immediately when this message pops up. Dont wait 3 seconds, do it as soon as it pops up. If you don't you will lose your internet.

So that will put the new radio on and you can flash omjs rom or others after that. Not sure if you knew all that stuff already but just in case....

Hey Mixxy, how is your gps working with this rom, did you try it out with the leaked sprint first at all?

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

Thanks earthdan, I tried OMJ's new ROM with the 3.35.04 radio and was wondering if anyone else had better results with another radio cuz I wasn't very impressed with the GPS with this combination. Also, OMJ makes killer ROMS but a lot of his programs are useless to me in Canada.

I have already swapped back to Ghettofreeryder's first GPS ROM (v700) It is almost flawless for me. GPS works like a charm using gpsviewer, tomtom and google maps. I get best results if I get a lock with gpsviewer first, then I can shut it down and run the other GPS programs.

It will take some major improvements before i'll be flashing again, but with the quality chefs here that may not be too long.

I remember that when we were putting the alltell radio/rom on we didnt want to let the customizations to run...

I have removed the carrier customization, so no need to soft reset....but User customization will run, so dont freak out when you see the customization window.....just let it run.

Hello and thank you OMJ and the rest of the people that make this site a great site with your excellent work and info.

I loaded your Bell rom on top of the Alltel 1.37 Radio rom, I found it very stable but found the GPS on the flaky side, like some of the other people here.

I loaded the GPSkickstart+drivers and finally got it working, where it never worked at all without them. I loaded a few programs and now when I boot up I get a tskschedule fault, I have no idea why I am getting it and it is still there after removing the last few programs I loaded yesterday. but doesn't seem to make a difference with any programs except that GPS didn't work when I tried it today. Not sure of any speed improvements my speed test at mobile.speedtest.com was pretty good at 800kb/s with the stock rom and afterward I loaded the OMJBell rom I scored 200kb/s to 400kb/s a few times and then 936 kb/s once. I tried to look at the epst report and it just had #777 listed with no rev info below that entry, not sure what that means? I guess that is bell specific.

I am waiting to load another rom and your lateest sprint rom looks like the GPS radio might work better with the 1.37.15 rom, just a guess on my part.

So I am wondering if I should flash this rom now or wait a little longer, if I flash should I see an improvement on the GPS side. Some of the programs I loaded didn't work with the Bell_revA+GPS rom, would the new Sprint rom offer any better success of loading apps.

If I do load this new Sprint rom are there any steps or software required to help the gps after the rom flash.

If anyone can help me with there experiences with this rom over the earilier version, it would be appreciated.

Thanks again OMJ for putting together a really good rom and all the others that make this site Great. I spend more time here now then XDADevelopers, this site has more to offer for Touch Vouge users from my experience.

use my newest roms......I always open gps w/ gps viewer 1st.....been working great!

you dont need to soft reset b4 the customization....the customization that runs is user customization, not carrier.

I had a feature on my phone that involved me receiving a blue envelope icon when I would get a text message. I liked it because when you would open it was a pre text that showed up large. Does anyone know what program that was and or how I could get it? I think it would go perfect with Old Man Jenkin's rom.

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

Hey OMJ, thanks for your responses, in regards to reseting before customizations, I was talking about if you want to load the leaked sprint rom (the one that is the exe file) not your rom based on the sprint leak. The reason to use the original sprint leaked rom is so we can get the newest radio, and then flash yours. But I have been led to believe that you don't want to let customizations run on when flashing the sprint leaked rom.

I actually loaded up your rom (based on sprint leak) first but noticed my radio was still 3.35 so I flashed the original sprint leaked rom to get the radio. I'm still on that rom now cus I want to try out the gps first before I flash anything else.

haha that was a really convoluted post......
cheers

edit: by the way my dl/up speeds on the sprint rom are about the same as they were before

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

I like to share my experience with everyone and wish everyone the same results.

This is by far, the most solid and very best GPS experience bare none.

I've used plenty of ROMs as a matter of fact, I burned a minimum of six ROMs last week in an attempt to find the best combination. Unfortunately all were hit and miss. Nonetheless, I've found what I would call the best combniation.

I flashed the Sprint's leaked ROM which updated my radio to 3.37.15. After doing so, I noticed my phone being able to lock onto satellites within a minute without the need of any "kick start/primer" applications. All I did was launch Windows Live and it worked out of the box!

Just to make sure, it wasn't a quirk, I flashed it once again, SAME RESULTS! Everything worked out of the box. I then then flashed CokeMan's 2.31 SPL and proceeded with OMJ's new 6.1 OEM ROM. Everything contined to work flawlessly. I'm now going on my second day with this and do not believe I will flash anything else. I'm very satified and hav a flawless rev a/gps combination!

Thank you OMJ!!!!

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

WOW,, just finished reading this ENTIRE thread...... After I flashed this ROM onto my Alltel touch and I gotta say this is the best WM6.1 Rom I have tried so far..

A couple observations.

1st it must be something about the alltell .exe and the 37.10 radio cause through about four different Roms I have NEVER had any GPS problems. I do not get REV. A speeds. My Alltel rep says REV. A is not operational on our towers YET.

2nd The guys an this board are great. almost every problem I have seen on my phone with this new ROM has been solved in the last 46 pages of this thread (so if you are reading this with a problem go back and read the thread some of the problems are answered 5 and 6 times).

3rd I have two carrier specific questions. As I said I am on Allltel and like every other WM6.1 Rom there is no MMS on this. I saw OMJ told a guy that he would get it onto his VRZ ROM but nothing for Alltel can you add this in for us Alltel users???
and can I add the Sprint TV cab into this Rom since it is based on a Sprint OEM???

4th and biggest of all thanks to all you chefs this would not be nearly as fun without you guys and PPCGeeks .......

Back to omjs rom for me, one thing I noticed this time around tho is that my data connection doesn't ever grey out when after I've closed all programs that could be using data. Not sure but I think this might be draining the battery, anybody have any ideas?

edit: another issue is that when i go to put in a new contact number the area code that always comes up is (425). ANy way to change that?

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

So I tried this ROM with 3.37.10 radio, could not get a GPS lock.
I flashed to the leaked sprint, 3.37.15 radio, still no lock.
Flashed back to this with the new radio, again no lock.

Does the GPS need to be turned on or primed or something? I've got to be missing something.

I'm confused. Didn't you have CokeMan's 2.31 SPL loaded when you were testing out the other GPS ROMs and for flashing the Sprint leaked ROM? Why did you have to flash Cokeman's 2.31 before going to OMJ's new ROM? More importantly, do I need to have something OTHER than CokeMan's 2.31 to flash the Sprint Leaked ROM and btw, which exact link did you use to get the Sprint leaked ROM?
Please explain...

Re: OMJ's WM6.1 Custom Touch ROM w/ UC, GPS, REV A!

sprint leaked rom is in one of the stickies, the reason he used 2.31 is because after you flash the leaked sprint rom your phone is locked I think. If you want to flash the leaked sprint rom then go ahead, you don;t need the 2.31. If you wanted to flash something after that I believe you would need to use 2.31 (I did).

Hi Deegimus. At the time of installation I had reverted back to a OMJ's 6.1 Stock Sprint ROM without GPS, which required me to install CokeMan's older .40 SPL.

The leaked rom is at http://ppckitchen.org/misc/V3.02.rar

My steps where as follows...

1. Install CokeMan's 2.31 SPL

2. Flash with RUU_Vogue_4350_PPST_SpeciallNBH_SPRINT_WWE_3.02.65 1.2_Radio_435011_3.37.15_AM_NV_SPCS_1.33_0823_Test .exe (included in V3.02.rar)

3. Flash OMJ's OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.OEM.Sprint.NEW.exe

I did not install anything else.

Garmin Mobile XT, Google Maps and Microsoft Live all recognized the GPS without the need to "prime or kickstart" the GPS.

Satelite locks were all under a minute and tested in both San Jose, CA and Las Vegas, NV.

Call it luck, call it what you will, this is the best combination I've seen for my device.

Thats exactly what I did, and I still cannot get a lock no matter what I try.
Are you simply opening Google and selecting "use GPS"?

Has your luck stayed the same for a few days now? I wound up with the problem everyone else has that the gps just stopped... but I think "priming" with gpsviewer seems to have solved that issue for me.
